Homeworld 2

Has anyone played this or is playing this? This game is really good. I had a huge fleet like 21 frigates, 20 interceptors and 10 corvets they all got ripped apart by hundreds of bombers wich seemed to have shields. But still its funn i quikly researched something that would weaken them and rebuilt my fleet with 2 destroyers and several flak frigates and i took them out. here is a link to it http://www.homeworld2.com/history.php?history=hiigaran.

Did they change something big since Homeworld 1?
If not, Homeworld 1 is very cheap by now - and I really don't go for the graphics in my games...
Duke Nukem 3D is still better than FarCry!

I like bombers and interceptors flying in formation and units docking in bigger ships.

I think frigates are too weak. I use squadrons of bombers covered with mixed squadrons of interceptors and corvetes, to hunt carriers and motherships in first place.

Is there anything new worth 35€ (around 40$) except the GFX-engine?

Well ya lots of stuff i gave you the link have a look, but i think graphics are very important at least for this game.

I like Frigates, my combinations of frigates can take out several bombers and interceptors and corvets out very fast. Well i have retired all my corvets for now. I got me 5 Destroyers and oh man they are awsome. 4 turrets and 1 missle. I use them for defence. I then also build 10 Mover corvets. Very powerfull at taking out capital ships, frigates, bombers and interceptors. It was so awsome the enemy send in bout 10-15 frigats and before they got in range they alreayd lost 2 because of the good range for my Destroyers. I am not sure but it looked like their fighterers were suiciding into my ships, ramming them. I won the battle. One of my Destroyers had taken Heavy Damage the rest just a few scrathes here and there.

I looked at their homepage and I found ... uhm... nothing... new except some removed glitches in the head up display, units and AI.

homeworld2 is pretty nice. and it seems to be easier to mod then the first one. but i hope there will be a sci-fi rts game like conquest frontier wars, where you can battle in a whole galaxy. so a bit like MOO but in real time

Well its really up to you if you, i suggest Homeworld 2 to you. I have played all three of the games and i like Homeworld 2 better. But hey thats just my opinion.:cheers:

I don't know what level are you playing but in advanced levels Destroyers are 'destroyed' very fast against Battleships. And when enemy can lauch 3 motherships at the same time which build battleships, destroyers and carriers which launch bombers, fighters and corvetes constantly, it's very dificult to mantain a fleet and you have to build fast.
Bombers are the response targetting sub-systems to disable those motherships construction capacity.

Dude? i said Frigats not Battlcruisers read the post. And there is only 1 mother ship you can't have 3. You can't launch any either they are already built. Destroyers and Battle ships don't launch bombers. Have you even played Homeworld 2 yet?

I know.
1.You will see yourself, Destroyers will be less efective in future missions.
2. You can't have more than 1 mothership (Pride of Higara) but your enemy can (in campain). There is a mission when you have to fight against three or four enemy motherships (Vaygr Flagships) at the same time.
3. I mean...and carriers which launch bombers, interceptors and corvetes, and frigates.

I played and ended the game. Did you fight against the kepper of Sajuk? Did you recovered the Dreaghnout? Did you united the three cores, retrived from the debris of Bentusi ship? Did you crossed the gate and recovered Sajuk? Did you defended Higara from the Vyagr Planet-destroyers? No yet.

Actually i already have recovered the Dreaghnout and now am recovering the cores.

I recomend you try to recover both cores at the same time. And practice attacks to capital ships only with fighter and corvete class for future missions when you'll need expect heavy loses, build fast, and attack hard, to engage huge fleets with great building capacity. Bomber sub-system atack mode is very important.
