I just noticed that this now shows up in the units section, although you still can't click on it. This is great I was hoping that the mongols would be represented some how in the game.

Hugh, it seems they took the place for Steppe Horsemen.

Hmmm....I liked the name Steppe Horsemen better than the 'Mongolean Cavarly'. It was much more neutral.

They also changed Royal Guards to Town Guards. I must say I also dislike this change in name. I liked Royal Guards much better....it sounds grandeur.:)

Well, considering the fact that Steppe Invaders settled down and changed relevantly quick enough their lifestyle may be it's better to have Mongolean Cavalry instead of Steppe Horsemen rushing into Europe and endangering your states :) (it'd be a time in multiplayer when you get to enjoy Bulgaria taking the main stream of attacks to protect you guys :D )
And the fact is the game starts around 1000 AD so Mongols were the greatest threat from the EAST along with the Turks (damn did these guys put the end of the second Bulgarian kingdom for like 500 years).

The diference is that Steppe Horsemen are more General, so Mongolean cavalry can't be available in Hungary or middle East, so this area needs some more cavalry unit (especially the Middle East: Mamluks, heavy arab cavalry+some kind of Turkish light cavalry with short bows).

regarding Royal vs. Town guards is better to use town guards, because we already know they have more something to do with towns (are available in every town) far more than kings (Royal guard seems to be available only in the town where a king is)

Yeah, Turks should also have this sort of unit you pointed out, and as nomads may be should be both melee and range oriented - sipahi.

Excatly my thoughts. I liked the name Steppe Horsmen because it was more neutral and it could represent few "nations". We know that original Magyars/Huns were steppe horsmen, then also Bulgars. Golden Horde can also be regarded as steppe horsemen and of course Mongolean's. I believe Steppe Horsemen should be available in Hungary, Russia, Ukraine and Bulagaria. Perhaps will they add some new unit or perhaps we will have Steppe Horseman and Mongolean Cavalry. :D

Yes I think you are right. Knights and Kings will have their own guards so basiclly these are the Royal Guards.
