Anno 1602 used to crash when I had ample resources, will this be back, or was it just a bug?

I never had that happen, must have been something with your installation or perhaps your PC.

Doubt it, one of my friends had it too, I have the Dutch version, unpatched so that might have been it.

Unpatched sounds as it would be the answer to the crashing, my version was the international version after patches and add-on.

1602 had a add-on  , mmm never heard of an add-on for 1602 before

Yes, there is a official one. In german: "Neue Inseln, Neue Abenteuer" (NINA) sorry i don't know the english titel.
And i've got a second one. But it's not really made by SF.

It was actually an expansion set called "Anno 1602 - New Islands, New Adventures". I think the company took some player made islands, scenario's and campaigns and compiled them into an official expansion set.

@ Flo, aren't there 2 unofficial expansion sets?

Oh, it's the same titel. It''s just translated.

Possible. I think i've read about it. But i have only one. It's called "Im Namen des Königs"="In the name of the King"

On topic: Try to find a patch on the 1602-page there should also be a international one (normally). If your still interested
If not, i've read some weeks ago in a preview, that 1701 has just very little or almost no bugs. I also asked that question in the german forum, but didn't get an answer

Well 1602 doesn't work on my XP, I would be interested if you would know how to fix that too  hint, hint

1602 works definitely on XP!!!! :go:
I just installed it
For us germans there is a official installer from SF. I don't know if this exists also for you.
And there are some other possibilities to let it run on XP.
But i think we're in the wrong forum
Make a thread in the 1602 forum or search for it. There are sooooo many threads about this question/problem.

search for "hardware acceleration" for graphic card and sound (i hope this is the correct spelling) and you will meet Roadrunner

OK, concerning the 1602 crashes, please read in your new thread (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=11339).

To answer your initial question: Anno 1701 will run smoothly under WinXP. Even the beta version was very stable.

meh I made that thread after my last post here.
Anyway my first question was if these crashes would be back, as I took they were normal and no bugs

How about under the 64-bit version?
