I have an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 1.46 GHz wiht 512 MB RAM. How does this compare with pentium 4 (minimum requirements)?? My vid card may need to be upgraded, but how will I know if it is that alone or if my processor is too slow as well? Do you think I will be fine with my processor and memory??

Also, I have been trying all day to download the demo, but it always gets stuck. What doe that mean? If it turns out that I CAN download and play the demo, does that automatically mean that full version will work as well? Thanks.

The minimum requirement is a 2,2 GHz CPU - that's an AMD 2200.

If you need to upgrade your graphic card, too, I think it is better to search for a good new gaming PC. Otherwise, you would have to upgrade your CPU, the graphic card, RAM (512 MB is just enough for WinXP alone), your motherboard and probably your harddisk...

This demo was released after Anno 1701 had reached the gold status so I guess there will be no activity difference between full and demo.
But I also guess that you will be able to play (if only) on the lowest-detail mode. Buying next 512 RAM will help a bit but, as RoadRunner said, you should .... buy new computer :(.

The demo works just fine, but I can't play it because I don't understand german. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary as far as graphics. Maybe the game will work on my PC then?

How far in the game did you get? When you get 10000 people on the map it'll certinly run slower you understand.

It probably was running with low graphics, when I installed it on my PC, it automatically was set to low graphics, I had to change the settings my self for the higher graphics.

Now at the start of the game you will not have a lot of processes running within the game and probably not show any problems running, but as you progress into the game and processes begin to be added, then you might see some problems. As more and more movement is added to the game then the more and more processes running, every person, every animal, every ship, every building animation, ..........
Each and every one of them is a separate proccess for the processor, you could possibly see some lag at that point with a 1.46 processor.

I also have been reading the website and it has helped me figure out how my people got tools to upgrade when I had none. A special guest had appeared in my town center and he was making the people tools.
