Today I've send a ticket to Sunflowers support about the releasedate of the Dutch version.

I got the following reply:
Hello,

unfortunately the full Dutch version will come later than the English. Please keep checking the knowledgebase for further updates on this matter.

Herzliche Gruessee / Best regards

SUNFLOWERS Support Team

They couldn't give me a releasedate yet but i guess we have to wait till after November 3rd.

The releasedate for the German version: October 26th
The releasedate for the American version: October 30th

Yup, but I'm not going to sit waiting for my dutch version so I just buy the English.
I already has some suspicion about this since bol.com a big Dutch online shop only sells an English version. That's also the reason why I've send a ticket to Sunflowers support.

I completely agree with you. At the moment I just think about the Dutch history and compare it's discoveries in the New World with that of the Germans. That makes me smile.

Right, and we looooove our neighbours
but the american market is much bigger than the dutch one. And that's probably your problem.

I don't know, if i get you right, but there are much more people in the USA, than in the Netherlands. So there are much more possible people who can buy the game

I think he means that compared to the US Anno 1503 sold more in the Netherlands. If the US with 300.000.000 people sells 1 million copies and the Netherlands with 17.000.000 people 100.000 then the Netherlands would have sold 1.8 million copies if it had 300.000.000 people.

Stig

yeah that's true, but the game is pretty famous over here, why do you think they even bother to make a Dutch version.

Ah.... Now i understand you.
But the Netherlands have not 300 Mio. people  so Sunflowers makes more money in the US  (it's just a expansion from you, sorry )

So it's like most of the other games/movies. They are first released in english (and german) and then in more languages.
For you it's sh*t, but they can't translate the game in all languages at the same time, so some have to wait
(or all have to wait, but that would be terrible for us germans  )

But your right, normally a game should be first released in the countries, in which it is popular. But nevertheless the netherlands are a small counry in comparison to all the english-speaking countries (wich need only one version)

Read the message once more:

unfortunately the full Dutch version will come later than the English.

IMHO that only means that the Dutch version will take a bit longer to prepare, but there will be one.

What I meant was that it's weird they even bother to make a Dutch version. There's only one other game from which I know you can buy a Dutch version. And that's old ... and German too.

Hi there,

I really like the Netherlands (as long as they dont beat the german national football team).

Sunflowers really appreciates the dutch fans of the ANNO series. We are definitely working on a dutch version.

I have mentioned it before: There are over 80.000 spoken words within the game and it will take some time to translate everything and produce the dutch sound files.

But the dutch version will be released - so just relax, wait and enjoy yourself within the forum (or the english version)

BTW I really love "Hagelslag" - the black and white chocolat combination for the breakfast toast - is there anybody out there who will provide me with it

Ok - send some "Hagelslag" to www.sunflowers.de and i will think about your personal daily updates :bday:

Just kidding - I cant go to much into details but remember that we cant provide whole europe by ourselves with local versions, so we have to rely on our partners and their plans.

Tssss. Do you really think that that socalled Mannschaft can defeat the Great Dutch National Team. Think again m8.

I don't like "Hagelslag" very much. However I like Hagelslag in the fruitflavor version. That stuff is so sweet that it makes your teeth fall out of your mouth.

80.000  words is a lot of words to translate and I'm glad Sunflowers appreciates the Dutch fans. Sunflowers is the only major gamecompany which not only translates all ingame texts but also all ingame sound files. I just felt a bit disappoined since the Germans and the English start talking how beautiful the game is when I still have to wait. That just makes me even more jealous and impatient then I'm now.

Just kidding - I cant go to much into details but remember that we cant provide whole europe by ourselves with local versions, so we have to rely on our partners and their plans.

Can you give me some kind of timeframe in which the Dutch version will be released? If it's 2007 for example I'd like to know. I'll buy the English version then since I can't wait for so long.:go:

Well, I think you would also do the translation only after you finished the finetuning with the original version, wouldn't you? The speakers cost money, and if you have to invite them very often, it would cost extra - and noone would like to pay that.
