View Full Version : Bad performance in Anno 1701 demo
afaik the game can run on 512 ram, so 3 multiple sticks one of which is 512 should work.

1x 256Mb DDRram PC2700 333mhz origina
1x 256Mb DDRram PC???? ????? (but I think that it is PC2700 333mhz origina)
1x 512Mb DDRram PC3200 Apacer
Your memory is running on different speeds?! that cant be good (im told) this will seriously make your pc slower... but i dont understand how it is possible you can play other games perfect exept anno. Maybe you can try with 1 stick 512mb and see what happends 2 the preformance...
Yes, try that what Loxfelox suggested in his last post.
And btw, you should keep same speed. Just take the highest possible clock, which is compatible to all your RAM.

It is the same speed on them. 348 mhz. I just wrote down the original speed on them.
But ok, I'll try to run at only on stick if you wish that.

How do you have the audio setup in the game? It looks like you are using the motherboard's onboard sound. If you have the game setup in 5.1 surround, change it to desktop stereo and see if the frame rates increase. You may just need to get a quality audio card to hear the details in surround. (this happened to my friend with BF2142).

Hmmm... Well, with so much trouble - I would uninstall and reinstall it. It doesn't make any sense for other (more demanding) games to run smooth, while the 1701 demo causes problems. I am sorry for the trouble you are having.
I played through the short tutorials last night with ALL of the eye-candy maxxed out and audio, too. It was really smooth, and my system is nowhere near cutting-edge, but it is fully armed:wink: :
ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe
P4 3.4GHz/800Mhz/1MB L2
3GB Corsair PC3200
BFG 7800 GS OC'd
X-Fi Faltl1ty
2x250GB (RAID 0) SATA
extra SATA HDD's 250GB & 320GB
2xDVDRW
Antec TruePower II 550W
Dell 1905 FP @ 1280x1024
Dell 5650 5.1 Surround
Z-Board/G5 Mouse/Logitech Mic/Sidewinder USB Joypad
I can play anything with great eye candy, except BF2142... evil game.
Ehhh...
I haven't tried to reinstalled the game yet http://images.sunflowers.de/forum/images/icons/icon11.gif
I have done nearly everything els but not that!
I'll do it right now.

Edit: Ok have reinstalled the game. Now I may play it a 800x600 32 without lagging. On more however, it is runs at 19 fps or so.

Do you have the AA or AF turned up?
with all this mess I didnt know what PC to buy to play anno 1701 with full capabilities. Could anyone of you help me guys ????
It's recommended to create your an own topic for your case, because this problem here is still not solved and it's getting crossed unnecessary. ^^ We will try to help you asap and as well as we can.
Do you have the AA or AF turned up?
Yes, it helped a little to turn it off. If I play it a the very lowest or low settings it's nearly playable.
But as you may understand, it's not very funny to play a game at 800x600 with a 20,4" screen...
is really my computer too week to play it at medium-low settnings?
Hmm, what speed rate does your monitor have?
Please check the monitor properties too:
It should be higher than 60Hz anyway to protect your eyes.
Optimum: 85-100Hz or higher.
Well, I don't think that your system hardware is too weak for this dam game. I'm really wondering what kind of problem we have to find n fix. I'm still rechecking every step and post here. I hope we catch your problem soon.

I too :)
Sadly it is only a 60hz monitor, and it could case some of the lag it's true, but if I turn off all of the graphics it don't lagg so much, so that can't be the whole problem. It may run at a little Hz rate bit higher at 1280x1024 but the game lags even there, so that's not the problem.
And as I sad, WoW and Bf2 etc. runs perfect at 1600x1200 and 1280x1024.
You seem to have 2 sound devices in your system, one with 2005 drivers (AC'97) and the other with 2002 drivers (c-media wave device). Perhaps you could disable one of them in the bios and get the other one's drivers updated? I'd recommend updating the AC'97 as it will have the most up to date drivers available for it.
I haven't seen this posted here but have you tried turning down sound hardware accelereation? I've known this trick to fix a multitude of lag issues!
Run dxdiag
Click on Sound1 tab
Move hardware acceleration slider down until it reads "Basic"
Close dxdiag and try the game again
I updated the driver, and now it runns much better. Still lagging but playable.
Thank you very much! http://images.sunflowers.de/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif http://images.sunflowers.de/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif http://images.sunflowers.de/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif
Edit: Yes I use one extra soundcard to get a gameport to my gamepad.
You might want to disable the sound card while leaving the gameport enabled.

That's just what I've done.
