HI Lipothimos

with full capabilities you need the latest gamers high end machine

But i think, nobody has got so much money only to play a game ..

So .. i'm playing with
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz
2048MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2
be quiet 550 W power supply

it runs really good! see my latest sceenshot (http://www.ladygames.de/1701screens/screenshotV000.jpg)

that video card is too expensive
I wanted the X1950XTX, but they couldn't deliver one to me
so my husband bought the other one

The german mates figured out, 1701 runs much better with an ATI video card, than with an nVidia.
So i hope for a new nvidia driver soon.

my CPU is a little bit too slow for the new video card
maybe santa claus will bring another CPU

I hope you can find your perfect PC :go:

Nowadays, a non-broadband connection just doesn't fly (no pun intended).

I say you should get the best computer money can buy. I used to exist in the realm of computer mediocrity, always lowering my settings and never seeing games the way they were intended to be seen. Then one day, I dropped a few grand on an uber computer and never looked back. If you are in the market for a new car, you can forego the heated seats and instead use the money for a real computer. Who needs to have their a$$ warmed anyway?

Hey BaldJim

a fast broadband connection will make the MP Game real funny
i've got 2 gb broadband and thats ok
if i could have more ......

today i've upgraded my pc once more, because my old motherboard wouldn't work anymore :bawling:

so i ran to the shop and now i'm here with
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
2046MB RAM
GeForce 7950 GX2
Realtek HD Audio output
and a Creative Inspire T6100 for glorious 5.1 Sound

Hi BaldJim

funny :go: for sure

you can use dial up connection, min. ISDN
but faster connection is more fun.
the game will synconize often. with a slow connection there will be lags.

Broadband ... ok .. i will try to explain

Various forms of Digital Subscriber Line service are broadband in the sense that digital information is sent over one channel and voice over another channel sharing a single pair of wires.

i have got an ADSL connection with 2048 kbit/s Downstream (= 2 GB )

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DSL_around_the_world#United_States
ADSL pricing is almost universally flat-rate. However, some ISPs charge for the bandwidth used.

when you want to play online, it's better to have a Flatrate.

I bought a high end gaming pc last spring. It's the second from the top
but has some upgrades. I think the RAID drives really make the difference.

Velocity Raptor™ DCX Custom Gaming Computer System

The Anno 1701 demo runs at 64 FPS even when the city is well established.
Good idea to get a good pc... you'll spend more money in the long run by
getting a cheapie for this months game that won't work in six months.

going to buy almost the same next week..
Intel core 2 duo E6600 seems to be very good..

question though..how much do you pay for the 250GB harddisk??
- im paying for mine (320GB) € 107.00 (Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 - 320GB/16mb S-ATA II)

and im buying "XFX Geforce 7600GT XXX - 256MB" video-card btw

For the western digital I pay 72,00 € incl. VAT. I suppose that this is a good price. The market environment -in distribution level- is very competitive here in Greece and the prices are cheaper in relation to the EU.

That is very hard to say. Some games that have very simple mechanics lags down very high end PCs released 2 years after the game.
I have a 6800GT right now so I can't run everything maxed out on a decent resolution so I can't tell exactly what kind of a system this game requires.

I think that you should have waited for the new nvidia G80 video cards which is comming this week.

with all this mess I didnt know what PC to buy to play anno 1701 with full capabilities. Could anyone of you help me guys ????:confused:It all boils down to the question on how long you are willing to wait and how deep your pockets are, given that the next generation of PC hardware is already appearing on the horizon (new graphic cards G80/R600 soon, new PCI-e II motherboards in a few months)... If you can't wait, there is a list of options in the previous messages. In six to eight months, expect to see the first (affordable) boxes that trounce your new system by a factor of two... but this is the curse of every new system. You buy it and the minute you walk out of the door, something better appears...
