I don't know if you have heard about the death sentence for 5 Bulgarian medics in Lybia. The case is very complicated and you could find more information on this site (http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=34514) or on other sites. The situation is something like this: "Libya has sentenced five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian
doctor to death by firing squad for deliberately
infecting some 400 children with HIV.
Libyan police arrested the Bulgarians in February 1999.
They were in prison until September 2002, when a high
tribunal in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, acquitted them
of conspiracy charges and handed the case over to an ordinary
criminal court. They were then placed under house arrest in
Tripoli until being detained again when their trial recommenced
in the eastern city of Benghazi in September.
The French doctor who first isolated the HIV virus Professor
Montagnier and Italian Aids scholar Vittorio Collizzi have
said a hospital Aids epidemic in Libya was caused by poor
hygiene, and not by the seven medical workers who are on
trial on charges of deliberately spreading the disease.
This tragedy is probably due to negligence' - Professor Montagnier
We have a profound respect for all families involved in the AIDS tragedy
but we want
FREEDOM FOR BULGARIAN MEDICS IN LIBYA."
This is a letter we send to the White House, EU etc.
Now, there is a vote on the site of Al Jazeera (http://www.aljazeera.net/) . The question is: "Do you agree with decreasing the death sentence of those who tranfused infected with AIDS blood in the Lybian children?" The first option is Yes, the second No. Please, vote!
PS. The vote isn't working right now - too much votes!
