*kohoh emperor, this is the English forum and responses should be in English, Angryminer posted kraut for it's similarity in sound to crowd. We have an English word "kraut" but leather trousers does not associate with it.*

continuing from kraut:

cabbage (kraut in the English is fermented cabbage)

Here in Bavaria (some kilometers south) some people eat their (sauer)kraut very often... And for Americans there is no Germany there is only Bavaria - I know it - you've never heard before of "Thüringen", have you?! Yeah - and the happy Bavarian, who are eating Kraut the whole day, are wearing some nice Lederhosen, too... And if you go to a typical German Shop in the USA you can't buy Leather Trousers there, no there are Lederhosen... I know that personally! So: Why should Kraut and Lederhosen do not associate?

When you think Americans don't know where Thüringen is because they're silly and don't know european geography, do you know where is Connecticut f.i.? or Dakota? states of US union, such as Thüringen and Bavaria are lands of Federal rep. of Germany.

I've written that because this "bavarian Germany" Prejudice makes me sick. But it has nothing to do with you and the other users. Its a big plate, which is spread in the USA.
Of course the most people in da USA know our tiny county Thuringia ! But my opinion ist, that a good lederhose associates with kraut !

.... and to a good golden beer

*I doubt that more than 1% of Americans know what Thuringia or Thüringen is. And I also doubt that most of Europeand know what Connecticut is. Maybe up to 10% It was no bad intension, just to keep this fact in mind. Everybody knows Americans are very poor in geography, but many Europeans are not so significantly better. that's all*

oh.... good golden beer  can't ever be refused
