No, you're not. It's a new feature in Anno :go:

And it's not the most asked question ever. Just the most asked question about 1701
I think the most asked question ever will be in the 1602 forum: "how can i get my soldiers on my ships"

Rats don't eat marble.

Sorry to correct you, but they do.

The rat plague will reduce three (or four?) goods which are chosen randomly, however I think they are only chosen from goods with high storages. So, marble, wood, bricks may disappear...

yes, if they upgrade from merchant to aristocrats

It's funny that Aristocrats have got Aristocats (http://www.anno1701.de/launch/index.php?lg=en&l1=entdecken&l2=tiere&l3=katze#start)

What was the most asked question for 1503?

By the way, when you said it is a new feature in Anno for the taxes being high keeping the people from upgrading. I have used that technique in 1602 a lot. I would get a few merchants and raise their taxes above the 'smile' and let everyone else upgrade to citizen.

I am not absolutely certain, but if it wasn't "I have wood and tools on my ship, Why can't I build a warehouse on another island?" it was real darn close to being it.
It always turned out, they were playing the first mission of the Campaign and you could only build the one warehouse on the island you were given by the Baron.

Now let it be known that RATS will destroy anything in storage!

But how do you increase the number of Cats at the storage areas since they tend to congregate with the Aristocrats?

Do Cats need streets to wander?

Those plagued with Rats need to know!

The cats are (eyecandy) just there for pets for the Aristocrats.

You just have to endure the rat plaque for its short duration! I have noticed the rats primarily show up after your warehouse has maintained a maximum number of goods for a period of time. I had a ship near a ware house when the rats started, I decreased the amount of the effected goods by loading some of them into the ship, the plague left those goods and started effecting a different good with high quantities.

One of the german players found a amazing positive basis to love the rat plague :go:

he said: "for me it's just a sign that my aristocrats have all the goods they need in masses and next time the trader will come around he will give a lot of gold."

:go: i agree

take a real close look at the lovely rats
