can't build clay pit in scenario 2

Have all the resources but it is always red over the pit, what can I do???

Well I just did this about 15 minutes ago and it worked fine. Are you sure you are placing it properly? It needs to be on the edge of the pit and not directly over it. Are you sure the pit falls fully within your build area? You need to construct a market nearby to extend your coverage area over the clay pit.

There is always only one spot on the pit for it. You don't get to choose which side it goes on.
