can't build clay pit in scenaior 2

Have resources and am levle 2, but always red, can't lay pit. What is going on ???

Well I just did this about 15 minutes ago and it worked fine. Are you sure you are placing it properly? It needs to be on the edge of the pit and not directly over it. Are you sure the pit falls fully within your build area? You need to construct a market nearby to extend your coverage area over the clay pit.
