The Frankish empire was not France Napoleon lost 2 times and died on st helene (thus losing:) and they also lost the colonial wars and im from belguim and france didnt win in the 1WW because of the superiority of their troops lolz (yes Flandres was conquered by France but we kicked out again :p

Frankish Empire and France were ruled by the same dynasty. France later became what was known as Western Frankish Empire.
Napoleon dominated whole Europe and if the there was no "unnatural" alliance between England, Austria, Prussia and Russia (and some other countries) Napoleon would never be beaten.
Also France didn't not loose colonial wars sicne there was no real victor. Not to mention Flanders was under France until 18-19th century....

France lost in Vietnam. As Vietnam was colony that's a colonial war.
And I can't see how Napoleon dominated Europe when he was beaten twice, sure by an alliance, the french forces were probably the best army belonging to a single country, but saying that they dominated europe because of that is like saying Germany dominated Europe during both the world wars, hadn't there been an alliance between other states the Germans would have won.
Sweden was at war with France twice during that time, the second time the swedish king was one of his former generals, even though the king was french I wouldn't say Sweden was dominated by France even less as that king actually commanded the army that beat him Liepzig.

Yaap. Although we messed once or twice with them. I think the first time was around 825-829 - negotiations for the control over the tribes of timochani, abodriti, branichevzi (sorry, don't know english equivalent)...

thats an independence war. like usa versus england and loads of others. colony wars are between powers which holds colonies.

napoleon won many wars from 1996 to 1809. he defeated austrian, prussian and russian armies. he and his relatives ruled over the most parts of europe.
well, if you want, dont call it dominating

and yes, germany dominated europe during ww2. (well, 40-44)

Isn't a colonial war a war fought in the colonies, outside of Europe more or less?

Maybe I'm reading too much into the word "dominating"

'Colonial War' means a conflict between two colonial powers over their colonies. As I am not mistaken France was quite successful. With England and Spain the strongest colonial power.
And yes France in Napoleon's time dominated Europe, France spread almost the half of continent including almost whole Germany with Spain, Italy and few minor kingdoms.

Who told that? Do you really know WW1? Germany invaded Belgium to go through this country to invade France without meeting its army. Finaly, when you meet the French army, you were immediatly stopped (remind of the Marne battle). If we didn't won this war by ourselves, you didn't won it too. [/B]

i meant in the middle ages lol

Oh right, using whatever definition of colonial war you like, the war the french fought against the english in which they had to give up all their north american possesions can hardly be seen as anything else than a defeat.

haha, just saw that small ad.... been too busy replying to Elewyn in Royal Inn.

so, take over france. Cool, so the game will be easy? *hears the "oooh, harsh" responses formulating*

BTW....

War between France and England over colonies had two names. 7 years war and French and Indian. We call it French and Indian war over here... on this side of the pond. French in Vietnam... hmm... last I heard it was called "Le massacre de la Francaises en Indochina." hehe.

@ Nadine. Of course, gotta start somewhere. France is the logical starting place. Easy victory, after easy victory. Right my German comrades? *snicker*

Vive le France!

PS. don't take this seriously.. plz... I love France, no really. Great country. Really want to go visit it some day. I just had to post a "typical American response" for angryminer's sake.
