I can't seem to get more than one trading route set up. All my ships go to the same islands. And if I add a different island, it simply changes the route rather than adding a third one. How can I direct them all to different warehouses to pick up different things?

what I mean by that is that if I set up a trading route between two warehouses and try to use another ship to go between two different warehouses, both ships switch and go to the new route, and there is always only one route. How can I set up more.
Hi pilipsmom
to create a new traderoute you have to klick on this button http://images.sunflowers.de/anno1701/gfx/launch/content/handelsrouten/handelsrouten.gif
you can find it in your ships menu as well as on your Strategic map

I do that, but can I have more than one trading route? If so, how?
you can have 20 different traderoutes
everytime you hit the button it will create a new one
Isn't it covered in the tutorial.
 maybe he is in the training game where only 1 traderoute is possible?
Well if you by chance wind up with 2 separate ships assigned to the trade route(there are a couple of ways that could happen), and you use one of them to set up another route, then it changes the route of the other ship to those same settings. Both ships are identified with Route 1, when you select one of those ships to set another route it identifies with Route 1 and you are actually changeing the waypoints of Route 1. I discovered this in a situation similar to philipsmom. You have to in some way disassociate one of the ships from route 1. The easiest way to do this is to totally cancel route 1 and reset it using one of the ships then use the other ship to start route 2.
The other way to remedy it is to open the strategic map, select the number 2 for route 2, set the parameters for the route then in the ship selection window select the ship you wish to sail that route.
