have tried couple of strategies not repairing tower till i can build up some ships after three waves of enemies they send exo warriors and destroy tower secondly building ships as quickly as possible but do not have any clues as to where to try stopping the ships getting past me and i lose because too many ships have gotten through to destroy the target
You already got the right idea - not reparing the tower as fast as possible. As you also noticed, if you don't repair it, waves of SEAS will approach via land. You should be able to defend yourself against the first and maybe second wave, after which you should repair the tower. That should give you enough time to pump out some fire boats before the carries arrive. Also, make sure you have at least two harbours to be able to produce new ships quickly.
Remember that you can assign short cuts to building the same way it can be done to groups - CTRL + [number]. If you select your harbours and, for instance, do CTRL + 5, then you'll be able to access them via 5 now. This comes in very handy if you have several buildings, because if you now produce a unit, it'll be produced in every building at once if you have enough resources.
Generally, your focus should be ship units in mission 12, of course. Make just sure you have enough workers around to get resources for your, otherwise naval units it is once the carries show up.
If you carrier makes it past your line of defence, in some cases you're better off letting it go instead of chasing it. Takes too much time and might miss out on another one. Also, when attacking a carrier, always take out the escort first since that one causes some heavy damage.
Ships, ships and more ships! I built no other land units than what I started with(other than workers). Concentrated workers efforts on food and wood! Placed my ships in the bottleneck to prevent any ships slipping by, I built a couple harbors on the island where the Poseidon's shield artifact was found, so there was less distance to travel for repairs. Placed some minefields in the channels along the outer edges of the map. Not one ship got past my defenses, and this was on "hard" setting!
I didn't find the mines useful, except for acting as fire-magnets. I built fireboats at first, then built some Muraeno submarines to take down the ships faster than the fireboats could.
Promoting the Muraeno Submarines to the top ranks proved to be worthwhile, especially as there are no major land assaults. It both increased their damage and freed up spaces for more ships and submarines.
The best thing you can do is trying to get on Level 4 as quickly as possible in order to built rocket ships. The SEAS Carriers are Buildings, so these ships are very useful.

The mines are only useful if you put them to a certain point, so that the stingers and submarines attack them instead of your ships (with which you attack the carriers when they began attacking the mines).
If you can get a mine dropped by a carrier, they will fire on it and make it explode and it seriously damages the carrier, but that is alast ditch maneuver for when you have nothng else near.
Carriers can attack in a range of 30 meters, stingers can attack things in a range of 20 meters and submarines even in a range of 40 meters, while the mines only make damage in a range of 10 meters. It might happen, that some of the carriers get too close to the mines if they want to destroy them, but I don`t know if that`s intension or just coincidence (or luck :biggrin: ).
In my statement about dropping a mine near a carrier I am stating to send the minelayer in near(witrhin 10 meters) the carrier an drop a mine beside it!
You can delete a mine just after dropping it near the carrier, then it will explode. It could be that a mine doesn't explode if you just drop it without deleting it (and making sure it will explode).
It could happen, that the minelayer will be destroyed before dropping a mine... :wink:
Well when I used a mine layer in that fashion a carrier and it's escort were sneaking around the island where I had no other ships, and I could not pull any around in time. I had placed mines on that side of the island to discourage travel through there, the carrier and it's escort were busy blowing the mines up from a safe distance, so I used the minelayer that was in the vicinity to sail in next to the carrier and drop a mine and also dropped a mine right next to the escort. The enemy fleet was distracted shooting up the mines, which allowed my minelayer time to make the placements before being destroyed.

I usually try to get enough ressources to build fireboats which I drop from level 2 slot to higher slots (I`m glad if I win this mission at all... :rolleyes: )
