View Full Version : My game doesn't look like yours...
Hi there, love the game. But after looking at the site's screenshots and you guys' screenshots, I discovered my game doesn't look as good as yours. I took a screenshot to show you what it looks like for me:

See there's no details on the buildings! The windows just look like drawings on the walls... It's all blurry and looks crappy! How can I make it look like this:

Well you get the point... I tried changing the graphics, and resolution... Nothing... And I don't have a crappy computer... 2 gigs processor, 512 mb memory, ATI radeon 9000 graphic card...
:bash: please help!

False, your comptuer is VERY crappy. Not enough GHz (not gigs), not enough ram, very old video card.
Harsh, but yeah - you are lucky the game runs at all.

Well, 2 Ghz CPU should be fine...but still 1 GHz under recommended!
The real problem is your memory and video card. 512 mb ram is just not enough to run anno on winxp (for example). You're better off with 1 or 2 Gb ram.
And the Radeon 9000 only has 64 or 128 mb video memory, you would also be better of with 256 or 512 mb video memory.
 that ****s, games are getting bigger and we have to UPgrade our computers all the time *sigh* i had mine upgraded last year to play The Sims 2 better *sigh* thanks anyway.
What should I get so it can look fine? Personally it works fine, honestly! Could be a tiny bit faster but it works fine. It's just the graphics... So what should I buy? A new graphic card?

I updated my graphic card's driver and changed some options in the start menu, they're different from the options when you're playing  and it worked!!

Well, maybe for a start...more RAM?
I checked once on my pc with 512 mb ram (yes it runs completely **** with like 5 fps :( ), Anno + one WinXP account (to run anno on...duh) takes about 800 mb of ram (without any other significant software running).
And if the data in the ram needs to be swapped with the hard disk (this happens when you try to put more in the ram than its fysical size is), your performance drops really bad (because the hard disk is so much slower in read/write than ram)!
And what does 512 mb extra ram costs there days? Not really much :).

Next upgrade do some research a decent video card and one gig ram is super cheap these days. For 100 dollars you can have a nicer video card and one gig of ram.
The radeon 9000 series is the bottom of the line. It's one of the oldest ati video cards made in the year 2001.

It should also be noted that the Radeon 9000 is not a DirectX 9 card like the 9500 and higher models; it is DirectX 8. That could be why things might not look as good.
