The first king of Jeruzalem was a knight of Flanders It has really played an important role as a rich vazalstate of france in the early periods. It has never been a normal vazalstate it allways had a large autonomy - Which often led to wars with France. It was one of the richest regions of Europe due to here famous textile
Independancy was achieved in 1302 when the small vazalstate had beaten france.

An independant nation/ or a playable vazal state would be fine. A lot of gamers In Flanders would appreciate that recognition of an independant state - After 700 years the struggle to be finnaly free is still going on here in Flanders , but it is offcource another struggle then 700 years ago. :)
