View Full Version : Political correctness
Just noticed a 'fight' thread closed. I totally agree.
However, let's not stop there. Since we're against violence let's ask developers or publishers to remove any kind of fighting from the KoH. Otherwise it might upset some people.
And then petition our governments to ban violent games. Especially those like Civilisation : those terrible nukes flying around and obliterating whole cities... It's horrific...
What kind of world are we building for our children?
We must protect the children!
 :bconfused ;(  :silly: :bash:

bah to you all.
It is alright to post anti-american sarcastic remarks... when you post anti-european sarcastic remarks... you get censored.
Note: This does not mean jokes.
Certain people take things too literarely on here.

Yeahh, i'll agree with you Sir Turylon - maybe people ougta reflect a few mi*****s about the thing they read before they start type - i really think it would help a bit
Well, this is a board of a commercial company, and as such they have to keep it civil. Now, if this was a board for political discussions, it is my opinion that everyone should express their opinions freely. Political Correctness doesn't ever lead to anything good.

Let's take a step back and review what that thread was about..
a "Fight others in a jokingly manner... WARNING: Take nothing in here seriously."
I posted a sarcastic response based upon what many people view as the American answer to foriegn troubles.. "Just drop the bomb on them."
Elewyn took that sarcastic remark and turned it into some sort of hate speech... and got the mods to close the thread.
If you read my post correctly... it was a 40 kiloton hydrogen bomb... such a thing doesn't exist anymore... So it should have been perceived as nothing more than a fictitous comment...
Lastly.. if you people are so blind as to see the anti-american "tidbits" of information.. well... *no comment*
Hollywood desensitizes kids towards violence, sex, and other adult themes. The industry would like to throw the burden on censoring what you watch on the parents... where both parents are working and the kids are smarter than their parents in technology... it is impossible. The Parents should censor what their kids see... but if you live in a country ERSB and other forms of content screening are a joke over here. 10 year olds can get their hands on any violent or sexual explicit movie, game, music cd they want to.
PS. Why are you so disturbed by that comment? I'm sure you've thrown nuke after nuke after nuke at some poor civ in C&C games or Civ games.... or even in EE or RoN.... Was it because it was such an overt attempt to rile your anti-american sentiment towards the only use of nuclear fission weapons in a war 60 years ago?

OK!!! THEY'VE ALREADY STARTED AGAIN!!
Lads! I'm taking your bets!
And devs! don't mind!
If things go too violent here, we got Happy Adolf with his MG-42 aiming right to the ring! :D
but now! let's continue with the fight!
ROOOUND 2! *tint tint tint* :p
*Nadine passes carrying a 'Round 2' card and all males in the crowd go crazy! and start whistling like hell!*
(I only hope this doesn't lessen my chances of winning the Slogan Competition.... )

damn..
you twist it so well.
run for political office. :)
I never joked about halocaust.
I never joked about Hiroshima or Nagasaki.
I never accused 4zzy of being anti-american
I never said you were anti-american either.
I dropped the bomb on France... not Paris... who knows... maybe I was using the nordram bomb sight and it landed in some barren non-habited region.
if you read your PM... I never said it exploded either.
You think I do not care about the civilians that have died over in Afghanistan and Iraq. You are assuming too much.
I think we should honor them as we honored those civilians that died in our war of independance and the war to keep the union united. They died in the struggle to help their people become free from opression. They might have been killed on accident by the liberators..... but that is the consequence of war.
Look at WW2. MILLIONS of civilians died in that war outside of the genocide. Do you think that war was then a total waste of time since so many civilians died? Basic truth is that today... we think war should be clean and no accidents should occur. This is naive thinking.
[/start sarcasm]
Perhaps we should just sit the two parties at odds down in front of two computers and make them battle it out in Unreal Tournament or Command and Conquer. Winner takes all.
[/end sarcasm]
the matter is... closed. as should this discussion be.

ok, guys, let's end it here. Let's have a discussion and not a personal fight.
I suggest we quit politics for at least a week anyway. I takes too much of my time, and I bet that's the same for you two (Lord Turylon & Elewyn). Thus, I propose a cease fire.
Let's talk about Euro 2000 and KoH

I catagorically denie I ever dropped that bomb on France. :D
Even if Bush was not running... I still would not vote for Kerry or Nader.
I'm not so much as pro-Bush... but anti-Kerry.
any person that says in 1971 that we cannot fight communism around the world... and we should learn how to peacefully co-exist with Communist agression.... they should be taken outside and smacked with a large wooden stick.. BULLY!

1) You wouldn't vote Kerry for something that he had said in 1971?? :p
2) I wouldn't vote him because of his pro-abortive position.
But I wouldn't vote Bush neither. :p
One of the big problems in the USA is the bipartidism, not very democratic and 'clean' if you ask me...
3) Watch your anti comunism... You can become very paranoid or too proud in the fight. Something that had happened...
Some of those South American dictators that Elewyn mentioned may have rose to power in part because of that fear of communism. Or anti-communism pride.
It is no secret that the last coup d'etat in Chile by General Pinochet was supported by the CIA. And also there are recordings of Nixon talking about it and that how all should be kept secret.
Is so funny how the US overthrow Saddam in the name of democracy and in the 70s the CIA supports the overthrow of a DEMOCRATIC Chilean president just because of his left-wing ideas. BTW, Pinochet was a DICTATOR that killed and tortured a lot of people. Reminds me to Saddam

We did some stupid stuff when Democrats were in office. :)
I wouldn't vote for Kerry... no way. It is too confusing trying to figure out who he really is.. Is he a conservative catholic or a liberal socialist.... He's BOTH! one minute he's pro-abortion... next minute he's pro-life. guy is a flake. flop flop flop...
I'm not anti-communist. The ideaology behind it is great.... I just do not believe it can ever really exist in society. Humans are never free from corruption.. that is why Democracy is so much better than Marxism... It helps control the corruption by putting a leash on politicians. lately.. the leash on democrats has been chewed through though. :)
