OK, this is totally ANNO-ying (pun intended). It's Christmas Day, I got me a new 22" WS LCD and this new video game. The wife is spending the night at MIL's house and I WANT TO GAME!!!

I install this and start gaming and can't play 10 minutes without it a CTD.

After 2 crashes I hunted down and installed 1.01 from a link found on this forum. No help. I started my game back up and BOOM. :bash:

My system is well within specs to play this
AMD @ 2.4ghz
2GB ram
AIW X800XT
brand new 16MB cache hard drive.

What's the deal. Do I need to re-install the game? You think granny2.dll is corrupted or something?

I am bummed.............

Check your drivers (update)... ?

Have you got troubles (often) with other softwares ? If so, check your memory with Memtest86.

You serious? Drivers? You see my Crash.log?

I haven't had any problems with any software in eons. My drivers are 100% stable (they are old, but the way I play it, don't fix what aint broken). BUT, it doesn't seem I have much choice but to start pulling rabbits out of a hat and hope for the best.

I think I will try a complete uninstall and re-install first. If that doesn't fix it, then I will try updating my drivers.

If that doesn't fix it... well, I guess I'll play City Life the rest of the evening.

[Update]
Re-Installed game... different directory even.

Installed latest Catalyst drivers... (The screen does LOOK better... no jagged text that many people complained about)..

But... Still only get to play about 5 minutes until BOOM!!!! Crash to desktop.

I am convinced that...... This software suxzorz.

Hi Agent707

Well, I have reinstalled DirectX. Updated to latest Catalyst drivers. Ran all of Windows updates. I even resorted to hooking back up my old CTR monitor( ).
Nothing has helped.

I can play no more than about 5 minutes.

I run an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe modo. This is among the most stable motherboards on the planet, so I cannot see there being anything to do with my "chipset".

In fact, this computer is one of the most stable computers I have ever built. I can't remember this thing crashing on me once (until tonight) in the two years I've had it running.

If I have to "re-install" Windows SP2 to make this junk game work...??? Or, is <my> "chipset" - - - then I will pass on this software.

I guess this game is just going to have to go up for sale on that aution site.

I feel bad for my wife, as she got this game for me as a gift... because I liked the demo so well. Too bad. I really wanted to play this game.

One thing you haven't done is run a dxdiag and post it here for the people trying to help you to look at and see if they can figure out what the problem is!

Overclocked too high....

I slowed my CPU down from 2.4 to 2.2GHz and it works fine now. How odd. Been running it at this speed for 2 years now without a hitch.

Anyway, all is resolved. Game running fine now. (Played for 4 hours solid today with no problems).

So you may want to add that to the possible problem list is "Are you overclocking? Then slow it down a little."

Thanks.

Glad you got it resolved Agent707! It is great news to hear! And now you have helped us to know another question to ask!

And sorry about the "short" attitude. That was a very frustrating experience. I spared you a lot of the details behind my trail and errors. :)

I will say this. This software is Very very hardware sensitive. Through all my swapping/tweaking, I was getting all KINDS of weird results from the game. hehe, like this for example:
http://agent707.home.comcast.net/screenshot0001.jpg
That was the town square.

That was when I ran it 100MHz slower than when I was getting the crashes.

When I slowed it down 100 more MHz, that's when it started running stable (once I put my original vid card back in).

Anyway, Cheers.

And sorry about the "short" attitude. ..................................

Don't worry about it! There have been a lot of "short" attitudes since the release of the game. It is very hardware intensive! :go:
