I was wondering what each civ's advantages/disadvantages are, and if I'm playing the norsemen right. I always play norsemen as i defensively boom to the fourth age, where I cna utilise the super- versatile mammoth harvesters. They're better than dragon clan scorpions (they harvest stone also) and the Dustriders dont even get a super- harvesting unit, so I figured that it was a strenght over the other civs and decided to utilise it as well as possible. Their units also have very good armor, so that's why I think that defensively booming was a good idea.
So far, I;ve only played on Ape Island, so what I do generally is train villagers constantly in the first age, and build a few bunkers and an animal farm, a barracks also if they are rushing me and i need quick reinforcements. I make sure I have a good stock of food for the next age and also wood enough for at least 1 farm, then research epoch 2. In epoch 2 i get 4-8 boars, sometimes a few charriots, then go around a side entrance and raid them (if i have charriots i garrison some warriors on them then drop them off.) I speed away from the allosaurs and try to kill all their villagers. Meanwhile, I stop training any more military units unless i have a surplus, then I get to the third age. In the third age I upgrade the animal farm, train some infantry, and get Babbit and level him up as far as possible on the skulls from the raid. The raid may still be going on now- in fact I have often won purely because of the raid as the boars are quite good against buildings, too. Anyway, I make 3 or so battle rhinos (transports are weaker and at this stage i dont need seige) and move on one of the two side stone piles. After killing the allosaurs (and destroying the nest, of cource) I set up camp using a villager. If they are rushing repeatedly I might build a wall, but since the sides of the path are full of trees that are about to be mowed down I usually dont. Then, I get to epoch 4 and get some mammoth harvesters. I usually get 2 or maybe 3, as I want to keep some room for a couple heavily armored war mamoths. I have them start harvesting at the forward base and spam farms with my remaining workers. Then I get to age 5 as soon as I can, get a couple war mamoths and 3 titans (babbit should be lvl 5 now), and perhaps a couple exo enforcers (though im not too big on machines). I rush wiht my huge army and annihilate them.
I think this is a good stratagey, but I've only tested it out on at most a lvl 3 AI. That was very easy and Im sure I could do it on 4, 5, or eventually higher, but Im wondering what you think of it.
Also, what do you think are the benefits of the different civs? Dustrider mobile centers seem very easy to kill, so I see that as a disadvantage early game. But I havent looked at the dragon clan extensively, nor the dustriders really. The norse just seem to have the best age1 infantry for defending, the best super-harvesting units, and the titan thats hardest to kill, so i assumed that they were best for my style of play in these sorts of games. But what about the other civs? I dont know much about them.
