German version playing english version?

Are the english versions and german versiona able to play each other online? Also, I suspect that the american version is the same as the UK version? Am I wrong on that?

1st) Yes, you can play online with owners of other language versions. :go:

2nd) No, there are actually two differnt versions - one called 1701 A.D. for the US and one called ANNO 1701 for the UK.
