I'm playing Legacy of the Ancestors scenario right now (first normal level scenario) and I can't seem to deliver the 5 tons of cloth to the Aztec king at the very beginning. I have the 5 tons of cloth in my boat, I sail up to his port but nothing happens. The trade window that can be accessed from the boat doesn't appear even when I'm right next to his warehouse so I have no clue how to hand him the cloth. Any ideas?
You have to open the trade window from the boat yourself by clicking on the open transfer of goods tab(it is the tab that has the box of goods pictured on it), and then clicking the cloth to unload it into his warehouse and then click the check mark to complete the deal.

That's just the thing though, the trade tab that usually becomes available when your boat comes close to a warehouse doesn't show up at all. In fact, I was just playing the hard scenario where your trying to rebuild your uncle's trade empire and I can't transfer 10 tons of cloth to the Indians because of the same problem. That transfer good tab never comes up.
Did you click on your boat? Is it showing as being selected(colored circle around it) by you? The menu only appears when sailing into a port if the boat is selected.
This problem seems to be in the german version too. There are some users reporting a similar behaviour in scenarios 4 and 9, with or without patch here:

(it's in german though *g*)
Do i guess right, that you see some gears in the cargo hold area of your ship? Are you using version 1.00 or the patch 1.01?
I'd try to reinstall Anno 1701 (without patch at first) and restart the scenario.

Your exactly right about the gears in my ship's cargo hold. I am running the 1.01 UK version right now and the gears came after I installed the patch. What were some of the solutions that came out of those two threads? (Sorry, I can't read German.) Is reinstalling 1701 the only option?
On a side note, I thought the patch did more damage than help to the game. Another bug I noticed was that the roads sometimes don't look right after the patch. Its hard to describe but imagine laying down a straight road with one end connected to nothing. Then imagine that very last piece (which should be a straight piece like the rest of the road) instead becoming a rotated, turn piece. Again, hard to put into words but I know for sure thats a bug that came after the patch.
The only working option in your case so far seems to be the reinstallation without the patch.
Unfortunately, as is said there is one other person having a similar problem in scenario 9. This person doesn't use the patch and therefore the reinstallation without or with patch didn't help in that case yet.
So still it's not proven, if the patch is responsible for that problem.
If i understand your part about the roads correctly, i think, it's a graphical feature, because roads look ugly if ending in squared form in the middle of nowhere. And when connected to a building, it would look ugly if the were ending rounded.
(you're right, it's not easy to explain in english *g*)
The patch also killed the background voices as well. Before the patch you could your citizens speak clearly, after patch they just mumble and mutter words.
I must apologize for my misunderstanding of this problem, I had not encountered this bug nor heard of it prior. Thanks for enlightening me!
Interesting... the problem, one user had with scenario 9 without the patch ( http://www.annozone.de/forum/thread.php?postid=79872#post79872 ) has now been solved by reinstalling Anno 1701 including the patch while the problem that some users had with scenario 4 with the patch ( http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?t=14640 ) had been solved by reinstalling Anno 1701 without the patch... pretty weird...

WaxWorm, thanks for the advice. Reinstalling and reverting back to version 1.00 solved the problem for me. I finally got to finish 4 and 9.
