I get this message when I try to start the game: Conflict: A hook process was found. Please deactivate all A/V and anti trojans.

I have done this and ran software rootkit hook analyzer which confirms I have no protection whatsoever. It still does not work. Any ideas?

Firstly, welcome to the forum, gamcfall1! :halloha:

Secondly, I just googled for "rootkit hook analyser" and the first program I found under that name said that it only checks the kernel for any hook processes. That's not what the problem is - some program is maintaining a hook on KoH.
Are you running a A/V solution like Norton McAfee? That one in particular is known to keep looking through other program's internals even if you manually disable it. Norton's policy considering the 'disable' option is actually quite a hassle. They don't really allow you to uninstall their products either...

I should have mentioned that I also used Software Sandra 2007 to detail improvements which advises me to turn on protection of which I have none.

I had AVG on my computer and I deleted it.

I wonder if the hook is in internet explorer although we nearly all have that on board.

Hi!

I just purchased the game, installed it and everything, and after I've finished the installation and choose to play the game, this message appears: "A hook process was found. Please deactivate all A/V and anti trojans" I've deactivated my anti-virus (which is Bit-Defender and my windows firewall), I've tried uninstalling and installing it and still the same. Also if I try running it by just clicking the icon it does nothing, just loads and it doesn't start. If I do Ctrl-Alt-Delete and select Processes i can find it there, running, but i'm not actually playing!!! My system is:

pentium IV 3,2 GB
Nvidia 6600 series, 512MB with the latest driver
win XP
1 GB ram

the pc is 6 months old.

What's goin' on?

Have you applied the recently released Patch 1.05?
You didn't mention patching it, so I am assuming you didn't. Since the hook problem seems related to the copy protect, and the patch removes the need for the CD to be in the drive, I believe this can be resolved by running the patch.

Sorry, i forgot to mention, my cd includes the patch. but it's not 1.05 it's 1.03.
