I hope there will be naval battles. They are very different than normal land battles. Different tactique and what the most: there are only 2 possibilities, you can win or die, or in kings view win or lose whole army, cause is hard to retreat when enemy invaded your ship or fired it up...

Well, you usually have more than one ship in a naval battle, so you can retreat with those ships that aren't boarded, depending on what kind of ships you have and wind etc.

What I think is interesting is that you can capture the ships, because the ships and guns are more valuable than the manpower.

Naval battles are easy. All ships are burning (fire arrows) and no one will survive.

It is actualy interresting if they realy have sea battles. I mean that is going to expand the game enomus.

I just hope that they can make the game all that they promisse. But IF ..... This game is going to be "The mother of all games":D

We have naval battles but they are rather simple. Two ships meet in World View and fight. One survives another dont.

But you dont do play naval battles in the close view. Naval battles in medieval were not that important.

I imagine that it is going to be on an "point" system. Like:

I have two ships

2x Battleship (2 piont in attack)
= 4 pionts

I attack. He has

one transport (1 point in attack)
and a Battleship ( 2point in attack)
= 3 points

I win because of points

?????

Like that?

I hope that battles at sea arn't just one wins and one sinks- MORE OFTEN in history one wins but the other GETS AWAY! It's hard to sink an unwilling fleeing opponent, especially when ships weren't that well developed yet.

Would rivers be used for transport? cuz it should :)
Oh ... and naval battles warr not that important but naval sheeps warr. A large sheep was able to transport up to 50 troops not counting the crew so for a 2000 solider army you'l need 40 large sheeps (the largest they are).
Allsaw every sheep should be able to be modifyed to be able to carry moore troops or moore cargo ... so when you need to go fishing you go fishing with nets and when you transport something you take out the fishin equipement and make room for cargo (or modifyit for troops transport).

Damn, that'd have to be one large sheep. :p

Anyway, I don't know that much about medieval ships, but how many people you can transport also depends on distance traveled. Say you want to just pass over a canal. Then you can just stuff the ship with men and don't have to keep as much food, and don't have to care about comfort (as much comfort as there was on ships back then).

But 50 for a "very large ship" sounds a little low. I believe there must have been larger ships, even back then. In the 16th century you'd have hundereds of people on a ship, and that was just sailors and marines.

I think it's quite different if you fight with hanseatic koge or venetian gallery. I think it IS important to have possibility for good medieval naval battes. I know they were not as important as ground ones, but just to have this possibility.

Will be very silly to see venetian army on koge or english or sweedish on gallery. That's my point. So I guess in KoH2 it should be.
