View Full Version : KoH patch 2 and Mods
Hello Guys,
During the development of the patch we investigated if we can make the patch consistent with the mods currently available. But unfortunately that turned not to be possible. This is due to the fact, that for example, two different mods are changing one and the same file, which is changed by the patch as well. So, what we did is, we patched the KoH and we brough a LOT more values in data files, so they are modable now. This will allow a lot more things to be tweaked and modded very easily. There was some certain stuff which we did not want to be exposed before (for the sake of keeping some core functionality more or less intriguing) but now you can mod almost everything.
In order to make the old mods working, they will need an update. Which mens, the mod authors would need to take a look at the data and 'merge' their changes into our new files. Also, have in mind that a lot of the tweaks done before in order to rise the difficulty will lead to worse gameplay and weird AI behaviours.
My suggestion is: remove all mods, apply the patch and play for a while. If you find something you want to be tweaked/modded, discuss on the forums and take the new Koh version as a base if you want to create new mod.
Also in the future we will provide the community with some of our art-creation tools (like tools to decode/encode RLE files). This will allow the ones that desire to create their own flags, units, art, and so on.
/Cheers

This is great. :hello: I always wanted new flags and art for some special things.
Sure, current mods have to be updated. Hopefully, it won't be necessary AI-wise, but there are some other things (units f.i.) which I'll change again.

Does the new patch need the old one or does it replace it completly??
I made a little test with Quest of Almohads and here is the result:
Imamate of Almohads (I know it's not correct, but it was just to test how it wors. And it workd well :go:)

Do your mapchanges from HR 1.7 work nicely?
Angryminer
Yes they work, I haven't came across any problem.
Mapchanges seem to work perfectly with the patch
I reunited Ireland, from Munster, I had a King of a Principality, after uniting Ireland I had a King of a Principality. That may be what is supposed to be, I am not as versed on titles as some of you. I am just reporting this, and maybe someone could tell if that is what should be!

Okay, I started a game as Normandy and reunited England! It is now Kingdom of England and England has a King, not a Duke!
I tried to get screenshots, but I guess I don't have a clue as to how to get screenshots in the KoH game!
