View Full Version : Newbie Needs To Know?
What in the world does it take to get Aristocrats?
I have suplus cash and a positive income.
I have over 2000 merchants.
I have a Senate, University, Large Church.
I have supplied all the required home manufactured goods and available colonial goods.....the needs bars are all 100% filled.
I have the taxes in dark green zones and merchants are euphoric.
Still no progression to aristocrat level.
In the previous version of this game I had to actually build aristocrat level dwellings but in 1701 AD I don't see an option for doing this.
What am I overlooking?
BTW...I tried the search function for clues but turned up nothing though I'm fairly sure this question must have been asked before.
Hi Benard :halloha:
welcome to the forum.
 are there Tools, Wood, Stones and Marble ??

Are these building materials given free for your people?
And also welcome to the forum from me :halloha:
And the colonial goods you have stocked are the ones your people are requiring? I noticed you said available colonial goods. I was not sure if by that you meant the ones they were asking for or the only ones you had been able to find!
Yes to all of the above. Still...
When you click on a Merchant house, does it show all their needs being met?
And the tool icon at the bottom right is not X'ed out?

and if the tool icon was X'ed out, and they wanted to upgrade. they should have an arrow above their houses meaning they want to upgrade...
All needs are being met and yes they are allowed access to tools and materials.
Maybe I need to add some of those ornmental items?
That is one thing I haven't tried.
Ornamentals do not matter in that regard. Can you post a screenshot of the town or if you would like you can send me the savegame and I could have a look at it to see what could be wrong!
I wish they would hurry up and get the Gambulance set up!

He is obviously missing something.
He needs;
bricks
tools
wood
marble
a colonial item
all the necessities for survival like food, alcohol, cloth etc. and lamp oil and such.
AND don't forget to lower their taxes to the dark green area for happiness.
Hmmm, I'm really curious about this one...

I forgot to ask if you had marble! Aristocrats need marble to upgrade, they use marble as one of their building materials! Check to see if you have any marble!
That was the point of the post.
bricks
tools
wood
marble
Ivory :hello:
Like I said, I have all of these in abundance and the Merchants have access to them..... but still no progression to Aristocrat.
Since ornamentals aren't a factor....is there a required number of merchants before progression? ....I have 2500+
Let's try something else:
what happens, if you lock the access for tools and materials?
Are there green arrows on the houses then?
Do they really need ivory? Or something else? - fur,...
Set the taxes in the light green area and then back in the dark green area. Maybe it helps. Have a try...

Yes. But 2500 are more than enough :go:
Well.....I don't know exactly what was wrong with the first game.
I started a new one then when I got to the same point (doing precisely the same thing) Aristocrats started developing....and LOL...I think it is a case of getting what you wish for rather than something you actually need.
Aristocrats seem to be the start of really big problems rather than a solution to any....so far as I can tell.
I'm thinking now I best kill them off and concentrate on developing a bigger population of Merchants.
Anyway thanks for all the tips!!!!!:go:
Oh...BTW...there was one difference in the new game...I almost forgot. In the first game the first need was for Ivory and I supplied it 100%.
The new game... the one that did develop Aristocrats...the first need was for Jade rather than Ivory.
Aristocrats seem to be the start of really big problems rather than a solution to any....so far as I can tell. Tell me about it. They are so da** picky about everything. God forbid one of your trading vessels don't deliver on time and you've got yourself a blaze
The new game... the one that did develop Aristocrats...the first need was for Jade rather than Ivory. That shouldn't make any difference. Weird..

but with meeting their demands and building a large castle, you can make the aristocrates very happy so you can really boost your income :go:
