Okay modders, this is the first great task. If this can be fixed, there will be little else wrong with the game! I hope its possible.

I just started working on it.

The spread of palisades and walls on the map is unfortunately miserable.

First step is to order AI to build them sooner, but I don't think it can work withut adjusting either wall prizes or AI's income. Even kingdoms which are large and can build very nuimerous and strong armies are unable to build palisades each for 4000 gold.

I will test the best prize, but I can imagine it somewhere between 2000-3000.
I wish I could make double prizes, one for Ai, one for player

The AI needs a lot of gold or the prices go down...I will see what i can do..I work already on a new mod.

I just ran a "rapid AI game" on 10 gamespeed with palisade for 2500 and it really wasn't satysfying enoug. After 4 hours in early period half of a map had palisades what still isn't enough
but it was just experimental change, just one. And mostly you need to do more than one change :wink:

Yes see what can be done without lowering the price for the player, because it SHOULD be really expensive for the player.In ai_build.in2 we can steer the decision-making of the AI regarding buildings. It's actually a very effective way, if I remember it well.

yes, the AI builds them..
2/3 of map having palisade after several hours..

with some small financial reform (for the AI) it will be even better soon :wink:

not as much as I'd like to. But I don't want to go down with their prize

so, with palisade for 2000 gold the number of palisades on the map:
game time - number of palisades on the map
1:30 - 49
2:00 - 51
2:32 - 56
3:04 - 71

still not very satysfying IMO, but I can't go lower with the prize :sad: I think it should be 2500 in minimum but the AI wouldn't build them that much

You will see in my mod more walls, The prize for the AI and the player is same, only the AI becomes more gold.:wink:

In actual stage of my mod. After 6 hours, only several last provinces (around 20) belonging to the smallest and poorest kingdoms don't have at least palisades.
At the same time more than 1/2 of map has stone walls.

It was done by reduction of palisade prizes (to enable AI to build palisades sooner) and boosting AI's income.
I find this stage of walls building satysfying now :bday:

Wow, Elvain, thats incredible! Good work! Can you make the other castle improvements just upgrades to the wall so the AI will build those as well?

you mean those like corner towers etc?
I don't think it would be any good. Now the Ai can build them before upgrading the wall to bulwark, this would disable it.

Here one of my test, i give the AI income the value 500.

Now the AI build good defences.
