It is now prepared as a celebration to the recent KOH patch release.
1. NUMBER 1 PC GAME: Knights of Honor
The eloquent balance of simplicity, nostalgic graphics and classy styling married to a complex array detail, allowing for numerous options of gameplay style, have made this medieval game more then a passing fad, instead it has become a classic and will be played for years to come. Knights of Honor captures the middle ages with timeless essence.
2. Medieval 2: Total War
Medieval 2 is simply epic. It takes the model of other Medieval games and perfected the concept into what is the end of great games for the Middle ages. The amount of detail and intricacy are simply astounding. Its grandness does not make it better or worse then KOH, just different requiring a different mood to delve into. On the whole its a much grander and superior production. I just personally prefer the charm of KOH, however I would not want to do with either games as they are virtually tied. If you like 1, I highly recommend the other. They should both be in your collection.
3. Stronghold 2
Sometimes you don't want to build an empire, but rather build a castle and manage more simple routines, such as the collection of wood or killing wolves that are eating the sheep. The amount of detail in this game brings to life what it would be like to be Lord of a provincial castle in the middle ages. Also, unlike KOH or M2TW, this game has the full mode on multiplayer and is very enjoyable for matching wits against others online. Often I prefer to sit back and build my castle perfectly and slowly, however, countering efforts of the AI to destroy what I make.
4. Stronghold: Crusaders
Even though I play Stronghold 2, and prefer it, theres a different game style in Crusaders which makes it worth owning, as well. This game is VERY DIFFICULT, which is also something I enjoy.
5. Anno 1701
I haven't played more then the Demo, but I found it to be very very fun. I intend on buying it.
GAMES THAT DIDN'T MAKE THE LIST (and why)
Age of Empires 3
Great game! amazing graphics, but since my men can get shot and shoot through walls, I hate it. Total crap. Why can't they get ON the walls and kill the pesky invaders? Totally unrealistic as far as how war worked at that time (or any time, for that matter). They should make a game with ants, that would be more accurate to formationless gobs of troops running about.
Civilization (all of them)
The day that an army is composed of entirely 1 type of unit, this game might work. This is really my only problem with the game. If you could build armies instead of stupid 1 unit things, it will greatly improve. Right now it ****s.
Any MMORPG ever
Fantasy is crap, that goes for the new Stronghold Legends also. Those jerks at Firefly better start reverting to the formula that got them where they are in the first place. This fantasy departure better burn them good.
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR LISTS IN MY THREAD, ALSO IF YOU DON"T LIKE MY LIST, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF ITS OBVIOUSLY NOT FOR YOU IF YOU DISAGREE.
