For any and all who are having problems with the game, do us volunteers a favor and be specific as to what your problems are and where they happen.

Also provide a copy of your DxDiag file and attach it to your post as without that file anything we suggest will only be a guess.

For those of you who do not know how to get your DxDiag off your computer here are some step by step instructions:

1. Click Start, and click Run.
2. When the small window opens enter "dxdiag" (without the quotes) in the text box and either click the OK button or press your Enter Key.
3. When the program opens DO NOT do anything. It is running. Watch the indicator bar (like when you install something) on the bottom left corner. Once it is done the bar will disappear, then you are ready to save it to your computer.
4. Click the Save Attachments button. You will be prompted to save it in a location and do remember where you save it, if you don't use the default location, but I'd advise using the default location.
5. Click the Exit button. You now have the file which is step one.
6. Make your way back to the tech area (unless you never left) and either post a reply to a thread or start a new thread. Do include the things noted in the beginning of this post in yours. DO NOT submit yet!
7. (Option 1) Once you have finished your post, find and open the dxdiag report, select all the text and copy, then paste it within your post. With advanced options on, look to the "#" symbol on the options bar at the top of the message prep window, click on it and paste your report between the resulting tags. [*code]"paste here"[/code*] "*" will not be in the tags.
7a. (Option 2) Upload the file (or snapshot) to your webspace via your ftp link, then go to the user-accessible user folder, find the file and select it. Right click on the url link and select copy. Make your way back here and paste the link into your reply. (You can hide the directory of the file if you don't want your files or webspace revealed and I can instruct on how to do this via PMs.)
8. Submit your post!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many also seem to not know how to provide background applications (not processes) as some have too many running or something that casues conflicts. So, if you are asked to provide your list, follow the instructions below:

!. Click Start and click Run.
2. When the small window opens enter "msconfig" (without the quotes) in the text box and either click the OK button or "hit" your Enter Key.
3. When the program loads, click the Startup tab. All listed items with checkmarks in the boxes are what you have running in the background and what we need.
4. To provide your list you have two choices. First, manually copy the list onto paper or type it into a program such as Notepad or Wordpad. It copied onto paper, post them in your next reply. If in a program attach it to your next reply like you attach your DxDiag. ALSO, please include the program name AND the command line! We don't need the location, but we do need BOTH the program name AND the command line. Second, take a snapshot of your screen using the Print Screen key, but hitting it only once. NOTE: Before taking snapshots, PLEASE, note the divider in between the command and locations sections. Put your pointer on the divider and click and hold that and move it ALL the way to the right. We don't need the locations but we DO need to see BOTH the program name AND as much of the command line as will show. Open Paint, and paste the picture into that program. DO NOT paste your snapshots in Notepad or Wordpad though! They are very difficult to read if you do and why I say to use Paini and ONLY Paint. Cut out all save the program itself and save the snapshot as a picture file. If your list is bigger than what is displayed, we need more snapshots (as many as it takes to show them all).\
5. Upload the resulting image(s) to an image hosting site(if you don't have your own public accessible ebspace) and get the url to the file. Imageshack has an option you can click to obtain an url for posting in forums. Copy the url and post it in your post.
6. Submit your post.

Thanks for doing your part in helping us help you!

Sincerely,
Phil
