Mx440 won't cut it, a better video card would help.

I realize that better g. card would help. Isnt there any way to run this game on that specification?

With stronghold 2 there were similar problems, but after installing some weird files( non official) S2 ran guite good.

Pls help

Welcome to the forum, Egahen! :halloha:

As Rnett stated your video card does not meet the requirements of the game. It is not compliant with the technology used in the game.
There is a readme file with a list of the video cards that will work with the game that you can check to aide you in selecting a new card for your machine. With nVidia a 6000 or 7000 series card will serve you the best depending on what you can afford. I am not familiar with the numbering of ATI cards, but you need to look for compliancy with shader 2.0 technology for best results.

Edit:The NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 to the best of my knowledge does not have (required)Shader 1.1 technology, and does not support Directx 9.0c. Although you have Directx 9.0c on your PC, your video card will only make use of the features higher than Directx 8.1.
Shader 1.1 and Directx 9.0c compliant video are required.

To add to what Dobber and Rnett said (and to hopefully make it clearer), all MX-series cards (no matter what GeForce they say they are) are only GeForce2s as they are all on GeForce2 hardware. Thus, only DX7-compliant. Indeed they are compatible with DX9.0c, but do not comply. What you must have is a GeForce3 (DX8-complaint) card. for the game to work, as that is when Pixel Shaders 1.1 were first used with nVidia. Even the older (not that old) 5000-series cards will also suit you well, but not as well as the cards Dobber noted. All this is explained in my nVidia Sticky above, so you might read that.

As to ATI cards that ocmply, all from the Radeon 9000-series or later will also work, but not my specialty.

Sincerely,
Phil

Thanks for anserws. I just thaught that, there may be some solution for that problem. For few games there are non official patches that allows to run these games on older machines. As i understand there is nothing like this for the Anno1701.

Dobber

You are correct with your understanding. You also need to understand that all future games are going to be requiring better video cards than the one you currently have, and that an upgrade is going to be necessary for you in the very near future if you should desire to play any of the new games coming to the marketplace.
