Hello, dear Community!

The Screenshot Contest for ANNO is about to begin.

As you may have already read in the thread on the topic of "Procedures and Rules" (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?t=16123), it is now up to you to nominate a jury.

You could opt for: a jury made up of the community for the Screenshot Contest. :go:

The jury should comprise a minimum of three, maximum five people, who may not be able to or wish to take part in the Screenshot Contest themselves, to maintain a certain degree of objectivity when looking at the images.

Our suggestion:

For now, please let us know if there is anyone you would like to see on the jury, or why you yourself would make the best jury member.

We will then launch a survey after a certain "application period", so you can vote your favorites onto the jury.

From all the screenshots submitted, it will then be up to the jury to select those to be put to the vote of the whole community .

A tough assignment.
Anyone feel up to it?

I can’t wait…

Yours,
Betty

I don't really do screenshots, so I could be a jury member.

I as well do not plan to enter any screenshots and would be glad to sit on the jury!

In the rules thread:
A jury of five members, who still have to be nominated, will be appointed from the pool of entries submitted by the participants of each particular competition. The jury should be permanent.

If you are a jury member, you can also post screenshots.
Webbie told us, there is a tool that can exclude this jury-user to see his own screens and vote on it

and Dobber
the rules are open to discuss
in the german section the are thinking about to change the jury members every 6 month or so

and i think, we should have one global screenshot section
we should discuss together and not seperated

It is kind of hard to discuss together when you cannot understand the other language. And it is a long tiring process to copy each post, paste it in the google translator, work out the translation, then copy the next post, paste it, translate it, etc., etc., etc.. I just don't have the energy for that right now.
I think you have to have discussion on two separate fronts and then have a representative from the English side present the English discussion into the German discussion or vice versa.

The thing I really wish to see is the "Gambulance", that is even more important to me than the screenshot contest!

We need a TOB

I tried the option with the translator to insert the http address and translate the whole thread at once, but the forum security will not allow it. So now I just try to cipher German post made in the Staff section of the board and just wait on somebody to come along and share insights from the German forum.

A summary of the discussion in the German Forum:

- Judges should have some experience with playing Anno (e.g. to find cheaters).
- There should be an odd number of judges.
- No SF-employees, only members of the community should be in the jury (this was suppested by the Webmaster/SF).
- Members of the jury can participate in the contests, there will be a special tool preventing them from voting for their own works.
- If the contest is international, there should be at least one jury-member from the international forum, but this is not mandatory.
- Should the jury change, e.g. after 6 months? At the same time new topics could be chosen.

- The following people have been suggested: Excali, LadyH, Freak-411, Excali, LotharK
- The following people have applied: Basti91, CG407, zabou, gamerrici, freizeitmieze, extrataler

Note to self: translated til post #44

EDIT:
- Another suggestion is to have a certain number of people permanently in the jury while others change (e.g. 3 permanent, 2 changing or vice versa).
- Another suggestion is to have a permanent jury only.

- The jury should judge pictures by:
1. Who well is the topic presented?
2. How is it depicted?
3. Has the picture an ambiance fitting to the topic?
Every category could have a maximum of 10 points. Those are added up and divided by 3. The pictures with the most points take part in the contest (the whole community can vote).

I really enjoyed the boards when the threads bounced from German to English and back. I can see why most of the sections are seperated now but I think that if we have one section for the mingling of the languages, it would be fun. And where best to mingle but in the contest and gamebulance section so all can particpate.

I am afraid it will eventually wind up as it did at the 1503 forum with mostly only German users participating in the contest, because of that very thing. It was just so hard to participate in the discussion there, that many of us English participants just quit trying. I eventually even quit voting. The poll I am sure will have to be in just one section, but I hope that we can still have separate chat sections for discussion.

BTW-there is a section of the forum for the mingling of the languages, "The Webmaster's Inn"

In the German forum the very same thing is being discussed and it seems, as if quite a few people support having only one "Submissions Forum" for both languages.

----

My personal opinion:
I think there should be only one forum for the contests. We could have topics where all the facts from the discussions are posted in German as well as English, that way "both sides" would always be up to date and no information would get lost in spam. If there are polls, "both sides" could just vote in the same poll (I guess this is necessary for the SSC anyways).
My question is: Should the "International 1701 Forum" only be for contests, or should there also be other stuff like the Gamebulance?

This is important to know before choosing a name! I will also post a complete list of all suggested names shortly.

I think SSC & Gambulance should be one united forum.
