The good old Monkey Island Games

Does any1 of you know the damn cool games Monkey Island?
I remember playing the old Monkey1 and 2 from 1990 as if it were yesterday... (actually I played them again yesterday :D )
They are just damn cool. Nothing beats such a good old adventure game!!!
Here you can discuss about the games, the best jokes and easter-eggs (There was even an easter-egg in Monkey1 as I read somewhere) and which game was funniest.

The second one was best in my opinion. I played them all and can't await the fifth part.

Yes, those were the days...
I loved those Adventure games, especially Monkey Island and Simon the Sorcerer. Played all games of those two series. And the Space Quest games were cool, too. And King's Quest. Today they don't make that kind of games, though. Only the Westerner was a good recent adventure, but more they don't develop. I loved this kind of games *sigh*

I like the 3 one. When i first played it i was stuck at the part were your sapposed to get a crew. So i stoped playing it then a year later i tried it again and some how beat it and i was like now why didn't i think of that before. After i beat the game i played it a few more times. THen when 4 was out i tried that but it wasn't really that good.

I liked the fourth one, too, but the controls were messed up. Best was the second one. Guybrush looked coolest in the 2nd part and the riddles were though. I like though riddles in adventures. And it was cool, that Elaine didn't like Guybrush anymore and Guybrush has to get a map of her, but she won't give it and you have to convince her somehow. Then you can try to make her loving you again (you won't succeed, though) with sentences like (sorry if they are a bit wrong, I try to translate them from the German Version): "Elaine, I'm not the guy i was before! I've become better!" "Really? What did you do?" "Well, I stopped fingering around inside of my nose."

By the way, what's your favourite funny sentence in Monkey?

Oh no... Monkey Combat was the only thing I ever hated in the Monkey-games! It was annoying...
Insult Sword fighting was cooler.

No! I loved it! nothing was more fun... or perhaps some parts were, but monkey combat is really great. I allmost laught myself to dead the first time I tried it!

Those games were amazing... Specially the two first ones!
The first redefined games for me.... First game were you could do almost everything...
I remember myself trying to get it... trying to get how play it....
Because it was so different to the games I was accustomed to.
And the graphics!!!! MAN WERE REVOLUTION!
And STORY!!! was GREAT!!!!
Those times were really mythical.... I remember changuing disks all the time, because of course the game was not installed in my HD :p (BTW not CD disks of course... Floppy 5 1/4 disks)

And the second! BLOWED ME UP!!!
I remember seeing Lechuck in the cover of an Spanish magazine... Announcing Monkey Island 2 Lechuck's Revenge! Got really excited, I wasn't awaiting a sequel at all! That wasn't a normal thing those days...
But man!, WHAT A GAME!!!
THE GAME, IT WAS THE GAME!!!
THE GRAPHICS! THE MUSIC! THE CHARACTERS!!! THE VOODOO!!!! :rofl:
And how I suffered because I couldn't play it!!!... The game needed a VGA card, of at least 16 colours... And I had a CGA card, only 4 colours... :sad:
Man I was really suffering because I couldn't play that game... I think I never wished something more in life for so much time than playing Monkey 2... :p
How many years was I? 10 years old I think...
I played it in a friend's house...
And after years of saving and poking my father to buy a SVGA screen! Ah... that was excellent!!! :hello:

BY THE WAY! ADOLF! I TOTALLY AGREE THAT THE BEST GUYBRUSH IS THE ONE IN MONKEY 2, WITH THE BEARD AND THE ARROGANT ATTITUDE! :p

Hey Drake! At leas another fan of Monkey Island as crazy after the game as me :D
I played the game as I was 3 years old... yes, that was a time... still play it today sometimes.
And, yes, Simon the Sorcerer3 is out. It's Simon the sorcerer 3D and I bought it at christmas here. Here in Germany it is already out. It does exist. And it has this cool black humor as the first parts... but the second Simon-game was best. ust the greatest humor ever in a game... yeah, those were the games. I loved them... *sigh* At least one guy who REALLY loves those games, Drake...

well,... lucas arts has canceled sam&max2 so i dont think there will be a monkey island 5
and if there is one and it is like the monkey island 4 i wouldnt buy it :(
