In the final scenario I was given the task of destroying one of the other player's castles. It wasn't a problem but I noticed something that I didn't understand while attacking. My land units could only attack *certain* buildings as I made my way across the island (cursor would change to a weapon). Which ones can I attack and which can I not? And is there a reason for this? Thanks.
Once the buildings fail to belong to the enemy, you cannot attack them.
Said another way, once you destroy an enemy marketplace, all buildings within it's area of influence, but not falling under the influence of another market, become neutral buildings and you cannot attack the neutral buildings. Maybe this is what you are experiencing!

OK, but why then could I not attack his garrison. You would think of all bldgs, that w/b one I *could* attack... Does the garrison also fall under the 'market influence' rule? Thanks.
If the garrison comes out from under the area of influence of a market/warehouse, it becomes a neutral building belonging to no-one, thus not attackable. If you have carried building materials along with you and built a warehouse, you could build a market that would include the garrison and the garrison would then be yours. You can also send a unit of troops into a destroyed market, and claimit for yourself, thus bringing everything in it's sole area of influence under your control.
