ok here's a question for you all,
When my husband and I play the game together we disable all the nasties and just try to see how well we can develop our islands.
however seeing as we're not so great at this game :nono: it always ends when one player reaches -$5000 is there a way to overide this feature? it doesn't seem to be in any of the game options :bash:

Yeah logic does indicate that  however.... my hubby finds it rather er distressing to be the one who constantly loses :rolleye:
er what is the sandbox mode?

The sandbox is an option where you can build on an island. It isn't playing the game though so I don't think it would help you.
The cheat for money might but has he played the game much? I know this is difficult but can you teach him how to play? I wouldn't even want to try teaching my husband to play 1701. I would want to be able to beat him.
When you set the game up choose the easiest which will give you the most money to begin with and tribute him some. Another thing would be to allow the Queen as she will contribute money for him.
The money cheat is to change the name of a warehouse to 'BonanzaCreek' and hit enter. Let us know if it works in multi.

show him how to play?
winning isn't so much fun all the time... specially when they pout
I may try the cheat but I'd like to try and get around the problem normally first.
but thank you so much for your help :go:
My suggestion would be to tribute him cash to help prevent his hitting that mark, if you can afford to do so! He could always pay it back later if his ego is bruised!

 right!!!
actually I can't afford to tribute him, by the time he gets himself into that much debt, Im only just hitting the head above water stage myself lol. I've tried getting him to follow the strategy guide but still he runs out super quick... and he bugs the queen endlessly hehe and she doesn't mind finding new and unique ways of telling him to push off
oh and just out of interest... I don't generally use cheats but we tried them last nite and THEY DONT WORK in multiplayer levels!!!

Actually I like that they don't work in multiplayer mode.
I'm sorry it isn't a solution for your game though.

No that's ok I'm ok with it too
just wanted to give hubby a helping hand :go:
oh and thanks for the message... got it now, although I doubt I'll use it till I reach the harder levels too... got to figure out how to win easy first
