Hi to all i am new here and i would like to ask your help. i am havi 2 problems the first is that i get a runtime error when the game starts after the intro video in the main window that says: Microsoft visual c++ runtime error This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the support. and the second problem i have is that i also have an other computer that doesn't meet the requirements of the ps 1.1 and i would like to install the game to that computer also as it is my brothers. i heard about a programm called 3dAnalyzer that can emulate the ps 1.1 and other things so that old video cards can play todays games. if you could tell me what to do i would be very gratefull.thanks for everything

Welcome! Let me address the last question first, if I may. NO, the emulator will not help. You must have an appropriate video card. Most of the new games do not allow any type of emulator program to even be on the system, so a better card is in order. We can help with that but we'll need the DxDiag from that system first.

As to the runtime errors, they are usually caused by a conflict or too many things running in the background. This machine's DxDiag will also be of help as well. For instruction on how to provide both, go up to my Sticky above in regard to problems with the game and post the files and/or snaphshots in your next post. Then we can better advise.

Sincerely,
Phil

You can try installing it, if it allows the install you may be able to play it on the lowest settings.
But I see several things in the report. 1.7 processor does not meet the minimum 2.2, the MX 400 card does not support Shader 1.1 nor does it support Directx 9. Support of both are required by the game. And the 93.71 drivers are not the best ones for your video card.

Phil Walker

DEAD right Dobber! Not only that, the card is ONLY DX7-compliant. I had the exact card myself on my older PC, and it also does NOT support T&L. A bare minimum of DX8-complinacy is required as that is when Pixel Shaders 1.1 are supported in HARDWARE, which IS what is required. With that card I had the greatest success with the 81.95 drivers, but the 91.47s are the second best bet. View my nVidia Sticky above for more about this.

Dobber also noted the CPU clock speed. Some from what I gather, have gotten it to work on less, BUT it will be SLOW, if it works at all.

Not sure if true with this game, but most others, disconnect that gamepad device as only a mouse is supported.

Now for the worst of it. That stinking emulator has created several virtual drives. That IS the problem. The copy protection of this game will search for BOTH the emulators and the drives they create. Once either or both are found, that's IT! Game will NOT run properly, if at all. This is the case with most of the newer games and why you need to have the proper hardware and NOT use emulators. Disabling the drives alone won't do it! The program MUST go as well. Both the program and drives have built-in copy-protection bypass routines within them and why this is the case. You used to be able to get by with this, but no more!

Sincerely,
Phil

clear and short:
there is no way to run the game with a MX card !

Phil Walker
27-02-2007, 00:33
TRUE, M'Lady! However, the user THOUGHT there was a work-around using an emulator. So, I noted the reasons why it won't due and the details why. I've found many won't accept until the facts are noted. You are indeed right, but not sure the user would accept it without the notations I made as seemed to think it possible, which we know is not the case. :go:

Sincerely,
Phil

thank you very much for your time and replies. as far as the emulator it worked with other games that required ps 1.1 that my card does not have. this program emulated it for my card and i was able to play the game with no other problems. but i cannot seem to able to do it with anno. worst case senario i will buy my bro a new motherbord, video card and cpu. but thanks for your trying.

Phil Walker

For your brother's computer, this is the case. However, you never supplied the information on the other system. With the DxDiag of that computer as well as the background programs list, we might be able to get that one working with the game. So, we/I will be waiting for what is needed for that system to see what can be done to get one system running anyway.

Sincerely,
Phil

i am currently away from that machine so i cannot gat you the info you need but it bothers me the nature of the problem. i mean it never happened to me before and i can understand what is responsible for doing it

Phil Walker

Are you sure you understand the WHOLE story behind it though?! You must consider the emulator programs and what they are designed to do, first and foremost. They DO allow "pirates" (software-type) to use these programs to "crack" games so they can be made available to other such hackers and cost the companies dearly. So, better copy-protection is needed and this isn't the only compnay or program that has now gone to these extremems. SecuRom (another copy-protection program that works like the one in this game) is widely now used by VU/Sierra and Tilted Mill to protect their games from such piracy. It has been this way for some time, so what I'm surprised about is that this is the first time you've encountered this as it dates back to even before the game "Emperor - Rise of the Middle Kingdom" (an old city-builder game by Sierra before they were taken ove by VUG) was produced, which was MANY years ago. The programs that do this are numerous and the copy-protection continues to be enhanced to protect the game companies and consumers by keeping game costs down as low as possible.

Sincerely,
Phil.

you probably missunderstood me this programm does not emulate cd drivers or copy protection. this programm simply tries to emulate the pixel shader option that my card does not have. i far as i now it uses cpu power to emulate the graphics. if you want more info on it try to type 3danalyzer in google to see for yourself.

Phil Walker

That is but your OPINION (and one I don't agree to). Where did that virtual drive come from?! ALL emulators do this AND have copy-protection bypass routines within them. If only for what you say, MUST have another of some type on the system as I KNOW what is virtual and real by what is in the file. You don't have to agree, but don't expect further help if you don't have the FACTS and contradict without proof to back yourself up with.

As I also said earlier, the game requires Pixel Shaders and the other effects to be IN HARDWARE, which excludes ANY software adaptation.

Sincerely,
Phil

lets take things from the beginiing. first of all i have some virtual drives made by alchochol in order to save there some iso i need, this has nothing to do with the problem i have. second the 3dAnalyzer is not a virtual drive its sole job is to emulate pixel shader and other hardware missing qualifications that my r someone else's card does not have. in order to do that it uses system resourses to recreate the pixel shader needed, if you need more technical detail go to google and type 3dAnalyzer to see for yourself. third this program is not illegal and in many cases it has been proposed by the official sites of some games for those that do not have a new card that supports some requirements such as ps 1.1. and finally i am not shouting or threating you. i am just expressing my opinion which is well supported you just have to look at the facts i am posting. thanks and please if you reply do it in a more delicate way and less offending

Dobber

3dAnalyzer probably would not cause you problems with the copy protect, but the alcohol could very well prevent the game running because of the copy-protect.

Kimon, firstly, I'm not polite nor ever have been. Look at my profile as it is in there how I am and I did give warning to that effect. I'm one strictly into facts and don't care whether they offend or upset anybody in making things clear.

As to Google, can't use it or the links it provides. Also noted in my profile, I'm legally (not totally) blind, and your and all other posts I have to copy and paste into notepad so I can read and reply. Also have to use notepd to write my posts. Only copy them into the editor so I can make the font size and color modifications, so I can at least read what I say and edit if necessary (and editing is no small task for me). so I can then submit my posts This is also why I am not shouting. When I use all caps it is solely to emphasize a key word or more. If I was shouting, the text would not only be in caps, but also a different color, bold, and lastly italics. Only when I go to the extreme of using italics am I shouting. Until you are in my condition or position it is you have have now been the one to offend by your rash remark, which I took great.exception to. Also to note for all who read this, I have come to find out that my use of all caps in a word was mistaken as shouting and I hope I have made it clear now that I was not. So, rather than caps I will put highlighted words in a different color and bold to draw the attention they need without appreating to shout.

Sincerely,
Phil

Phil, there is no reason to continue with this topic, the user already acknowledges the fact they will be unable to play the game on that machine, so that problem is fixed. Trying to be polite would be appreciated by all, as well. It is especially important to be polite to new people on the forum.

Phil Walker

You are right Dobber! However, there are exceptions to every rule. In this case if one must sacrifice truth to be "nice", people will end up with the wrong idea and I won't mislead or give false information if that is what it takes to be polite.

Sincerely,
Phil
