Knight Icons?

Hi,

I'm just wondering about some of the things I've seen on the screenshots: I read somewhere that when a spy is captured some bars overlap the knight's picture, but are there other icon/changes that happen?
Above the knight's pictures I've seen stars - what do these mean? Also I've seen shields and some other things (if I'm not mistaken) - what do these mean?

The stars are the knight's fame-points (something like experience).
The more fame-points a marshall has, the more experienced/skillful he is.
Marshalls earn fame-points for won battles. The other knights gain fame-points through your command (you spend "wisdom", which is produced in monastries etc., on them).
