I have a screen shot of a game where the Cannon Foundry has 1957t of wood. I guess I can lay off my woodsmen!

I remember having a similar situation several times in the past. My experience is that it seems to happen a lot with islands that are taken over by force from the AI.

I also remember when taking over an island from the AI that some of the captured shops had a positive balance instead of having an operating cost.

I had it happen once on an island that was always mine.

I have also seen it with some of the other workshops in a multiplayer game. I think it was a few bakeries and they had a lot of flour.

Both games I saw it in were very developed and had many merchants and aristo's.

Once I had a windmill with like 1700T of wheat. I wish I knew how to reproduce this bug.

How do you capture buildings rather than destroying them? I never knew you could do this!

You can take over the enemie's buildings. To do this you have to destroy his warehouse, marketplace and military buildings.

You need to have a ship ready (wood, stones, tools) to replace his marketplaces/warehouse, this has to be done rather quickly because they will get destroyed if they are out of the reach of a marketplace for a little while.

Yes, also, there can't be a marketplace very close to said marketplace.

Like if there are 3 markets, like this

M---M---M

You would have to destory eather one, or both markets so you can captire the middle one. I may be wrong, because its been a while since I've palyed

You can only take control of the warehouse when every marketplace, the warehouse have been reduced to mere shells, and there can be no cannon towers remaining either. And you take control by building a warehouse on top of the empty shell of the enemy warehouse.

You can also capture parts of the enemies island as well, even if he still has his warehouse. You need to establish your own settlement on an open space on the island. Next you build a marketplace as close to his territory as possible, destroy his marketplace:knight: and watchtowers and as soon as the marketplace goes to ashes you then "own" the buildings that are in the area of influence of your marketplace. Usually you only end up with the crappy layout that the AI has built:bash: but sometimes you will capture a mine or even a castle.:go:

This can be a very useful strategy, unless of course you are playing "Double D's" Easter contest:wink:
