In 1503, I noticed quite a bit reminded me of Cutthroat Island OST.
Cutthroat Island for those who don't know, is a 1995 pirate film.
For one example, I chose this song from 1503 called Buccaneers.

And this is the intro of Cutthroat Island's main titles.

They sound quite similar in a few sections, and this sort of thing continues throughout the games music, but not just with Cutthroat Island. Certain movements of strings that are overused in the music are also widely used in Cutthroat Island such as this movement heard in both 1503, 1701, and 1602.

It doesn't just occur in the games when you build a warehouse, it is in the music itself.
And as heard in Cutthroat Island a lot.

Unfortunately I don't have a copy of Anno 1701 music since it isn't in wav or mp3 format, but I'm sure you hardcore fans have paid attention to the music and will recall hearing this.
This next mp3 is from the Stargate soundtrack. It is a segment where Ra's theme/motif plays. You will recognize that this same arrangement is heard in 1701.

No, I'm not calling the composer a thief or unoriginal. I think it is quite cool if this was intentional, but whether it is a mistake or not... some of this is exact copies of other arrangements mostly from film.
