Daemon.dll - Ever a fix?

Did there ever turn out to be a fix for the daemon.dll error about it being locked? When I bought the game 7 months ago I tried everything, and nothing worked - I want to know if there is a way to fix it or not now.. I've never even heard of Daemon Tools until this game told me it was locked on my brand new PC, and the .dll's don't even exist on my PC.

Welcome to the forum, SirDustin.
The second patch doesn't have a copy protection and thus doesn't check for any such software such as the daemon tools.
So if the game is properly patched to version 1.05 you shouldn't have any problems.

You can try it, but you do so at your own risk. I too have the US version and mine wouldn't accept the 1.05 patch.

Several US users have reported that the international patch 1.05 installs just fine on their version.
If not, I'm sure we can fix that problem. :smile:

As noted before (not in this thread), I'll pass. I have not problems and never have and am not going to adjust for a foreign patch to make it work. I'll wait for an official US patch or not do it at all. No problems with the game, so no need to fix what ain't broke. :biggrin:

I too can comfirm that the UK patch does work on the US version, and will help you with the .dll patch - I've played it for a few days now with no errors and am completely loving the game.

As I noted before (and I don't like to repeat myself on trivial matters), I won't have a non-official patch that doess not match my version, (which includes matching in language and country) nor do I want and/or desire. If no US patch ever comes to be, I'll do without it. I won't modify to make something that won't work with it as it is, which it won't on either of my systems. While appreciated, it works, so (again) I'll pass.

I have a problem with Deamon Tools too. When I start the game appears a window with a text: "Deamon Tools is installed but locked! Please unlock Deamon Tools and restart application". What I can do?

Whether or not all will agree, you can try to disable it in your Startup programs list or just uninstall it. Locked means it's running in most cases and is truly not needed or desired. If you plan on getting any new games (like Anno 1701), you'll have to uninstall it as those games not only search for the programs but the drives as well and once found that's it! Game won't work after.

I always had the daemon-tools running beside KoH and had no problems with it.

You might need to uninstall and reinstall the game then, or at least do a system shut down. Should you uninstall and reinstall, do make sure to patch to at least version 1.3 as well. If these do not help, please provide your DxDiag in your next post as well as your list of background programs so we can see what else might be causing your issue(s). If not sure how, go up and read my Sticky about problem with the game and follow both sets of instructions. We'll be here and waiting (at least off and on). Good Luck!

It's a text file you save to your computer when you run the program of the same name (but without the capital letters). What it is, is your DirectX Diganostics and tells us all about your system and save the actual programs you have installed, that is making it run. You'll find out how to provide and obtain once you read my Sticky. It is not on your system until you run and save the program.

I can see your problem right away now. Get rid of those stinking, lousy 93.71 video drivers !!! With that card you should be using the 91.47 version that you'll find a link to in my nVidiia Sticky above. Do much sure you uninstall those pieces of junk peroperly before install the 91.47s as well (as I gave instructions in my thread as well).

Your audio drivers could also stand to be updated. You'll find them HERE (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=23&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#AC).

You must still have Daemon Tools (or another such program) installed as I see some missing/virtual drives. You either need to uninstall the program or disable it, but get rid of the dirves no matter what. Once you can install the 1.05 patch you don't need to worry about this, but without it, and for other games this must be done.

Once you have all of this done, try the game then and let us know. If not, must be background programs as I noted earleir that you have not yet provided, which I will then need. Good Luck!

I don't uninstall this videodrivers! I have Gothic 3 and this game needed in this drivers... I have a virtual drive "Alcogol 120%". And patch 1.05 I can't install- system get an error...
