So i've been using the production calculator posted in one of the threads but noticed it was quite inaccurate ...
I had a city with ~4000 aristocrats and my honey supply was about zero at any given time, my chocolates about 60 and my cocoa above 400!!! that is with 10 cocoa plantations 10 apiaries and 5 confectionaries.. now this tells me that u need way more apiaries than cocoa plantations...
anyone notice this?
It could have to do with the trasnportation cycles! The cocoa island perhaps is closer than your honey island, resulting in the cocoa production never being in a state of waitng for space, while the honey production runs out of storage space and halts for a short time. Or perhaps you have more markets serviving the 10 cocoa plantations resulting in better pickup service to the farms. There could be a number of things factoring into it.
To give your chocolate production a shot in the arm, perhaps you should send a courier ship after some honey from the trader!

i've thought about the travel cycles, but both my honey and cocoa islands are approx same distance fro my main island, in fact, cocoa is farther...
have you found that equal amount of apiaries and cocoa plantations gives you a balanced production?
also i feel that the calculator is mistaken on a few more items...
it calls for 3 production chains of jewelery for 4000 aristicrats, but i only had 2 and was overproducing jewelery :S
did anyone double check that calculator tool to see if it actually works well? i'm having my doubts

I have noticed a lot of things like that, that are based on the numbers and statistics thread. The other thing not addressed is how certain techs can improve production (guild house/master certs), and how is that bonus calculated? Same amount of wool used but more cloth made, or same amount of cloth made but less wool used (for each bonus applied)? The game is not as simple as saying "1 perfumery supports 1,000 people". It might support 1100 or 1350 (if the original 1k even correct).

very true.. i've wondered about that as well when i developed the weaving mill....
at firt i thought that if the last building in a production chain is more efficient then it could sustain larger number of lower end buildings i.e 3 sheep farms for 1 weaving hut.... but after i tied that the 3rd farm always had excess wool...
so i honestly don't know what the differences are once u enhance the production of buildings.
