I'm certain that I read a thread or an article on forcing a foreign culture to buy until your trade ship was empty. I can't find it now. Anybody have a link to that article? Thanks!
The only thing I know to do is sit there and wait until they need more of the good, which is not very long!

I've done this before. Not force them to buy your goods but just sitting there. It's a long way to gain framination. Your best bet is to establish a trading route with them and to give them large sums of money (but not too often b/c then they'll become suspices).

You can't force them to buy goods when there is not a need. But if I understand you question, you want to take a full load of a goods and continue trading until empty. This is easy to do, without having to re-visit your ship repeatedly.
Once you fill you holds, set a trade route with the foregin culture as the first stop, and do not select any island for the second stop. The ship will go to the island, and continue selling without any additional action on your part. When the culture's need becomes 1, the ship will sell 1. I doubled checked this and it does work. I would assume, that once the ship is empty you would get the message "no goods being delivered on trade route #". At which time you would have to de-activate the trade route and return it to one of your islands to refill. I am sure you could also use this tactic when buying goods from them and you should get the message when all the holds are full but I did not test it that way.
