I have the U.K. version, and when you move characters around like the boat, they speak in a british accent. Now nothing agianst the Brits, but I find the bristish accent kind of ruins the game for me. The American accents just sounds better, I"m not sure if I can explain but when I hear the british accent it makes it seem that the characters are not determined, LOL . Hearing the american accent makes the characters seem more "bad ***" LIke their out there to accomplish a mission not "lets go party and go to the Pub to drink a boot:cheers: "
This could be because I had the old game "anno 1601", in the U.S. version. But it could also be that everytime I hear the british speak on T.V. its always some stupid commedy or something. But whatver the reason the British Accent is annoying.
Anyway does the U.S. version have american or british accent when you click on the characters?
Whatever is was I remember turning off the speech volume since their voices were getting on my nerves...:silly:

British. Thank goodness. I can't stand the American (Harvard accent okay, educated accentation okay). Particularly Southern. Not offense to Southerners, but the accentation of the American South, is grating. Especially Tennessee.
Tennessee is more central USA. However it is a hillbilly state. I've travelled all over the USA working and somtimes find myself slipping in and out of the different speech patterns. It really annoys my friends.
My wife is from Arkansas and it is very easy to slip into the southern drawl when we visit...

My accent is a mess. Raised in So Chicago and still carry some of that, then California and still carry some of that and now in Kentucky (via Texas). Guess I irritate everyone (although not always because of the accent  ).

My parents call me "the human melting pot". I was raised in California, so naturally I say things like Dude, hella, totally and wicked. But then I slip into my southern drawl, which suprised my parents because I've never been to the south, and yet I do a perfect (apparently) southern accent. scary but true. Then when i try to do any european accent for fun, I end up all over the map. Like if I try to do a british accent, I end up sounding scottish. my french sounds italian and my irish sound english:scratch:  The only european accent that I can do on the spot is German  to make matters worse, I can't keep my accent straight during a conversaition. I must be REALLY annoying to my professors because I can't tell when I change accents and I really don't care if they can't understand me (sad but true.)
@eddie500: I hate the british accents too. Especially when talking to a brit, because everything out of their mouths sounds intelligent, which makes us americans uncomfortable because we know we'll sound like idiots if we say y'all, dude or huh.

I change accentation. My English either sounds like Bill Gates when I talk computers, Russian when I talk politics and warfare. Slight Chinese accent creeps up sometimes. And British on everyhting else (west end).
