Well, I hope you actually copy-pasted that. It would be bad to have your fingers hurt for nothing. There are at least as many books that support th other side of the arguement.
To Bayazid: If he's half Turk and half Mongolian why he should be Turk, but not Mongolian. See, what matters is that he acted like Mongolian, he wanted to be recognized as such, as you said. Same as Alexander. Origin is not nationality.
I know very well that in North Asia there are many Turk tribes, even today.
For the sake of the peace, let's say that Macedonians genetically might have Illirian, Thracian (these conglomerates of tribes are not well studied and distinguished) or whatever you want origin. But Macedonian Empire was Greek. Hellenistic, if you want. Because Greek "nation" (ancient Greek!) is not a genetic nation, rather than self -awareness. Just like Roman, Byzantian, Ottoman, or even French during the revolution. Great nations overcome the boundaries of tribes, ethnics and origins.
I don't want to argue any more. Let anybody beleive that Macedonians were not Greek. Maybe they just studied Greek as a foreign language in school and, strange enough, did not like to write in their own "Macedonian" language.
It doesn't matter. Neither nowdays Greek, nor nowdays Macedonian can claim Alexander "their", no matter what ancient Macedonians were.
