Problem with the first run of the game!

With what has transpired now, I have to ask. Did you install Anno prior to doing all the Windows Updates (including SP2, .NET Framework 2.0, and one of the newer DX9 versions)? If you did not do all of those, that might be your problem, just to note (as was not stated).

Other than what has been noted, can't say. Only things that come to mind is that I hope you have a 400 watt or higher output power supply as the full game will put the demands of your system and card to excess of the minimums. If you have 400 watts or more all I can think of would be a better video card of the 7000-series (from nVidia if you stay with them) with either a GS, GT, or GTX suffix, but stay away from LE, SE, VE, and XT as those are the worst of the number (as noted before). Then the proper drivers to go with it. That and your background programs (whether you think so or not) are the only factors seen and all that can be offered without seeing the PC itself.
