Conversion question

I actually forgot to save the game in the screenshot, but I reloaded the original save and changed religions again. I noticed that the enemy kingdoms are semi-randomly generated and placed. Also if you notice in the first screenshot, the ally in the bottom right grew due to the revolt... so it would be my guess that adjacent nations have a higher chance to gain control of adjacent territories.
