Well,... i've got a problem

I downloaded Anno 1701 from Gamersgate.com, installed it and enjoyed it for several hours.
After building some big cities and sinking some Ramirez's ships i decided to download the last patch...

What a mistake! At start the game displays me the required DVD message... of course i've got none because i downloaded my copy of the game

Are there any solutions?

Thanks a lot for reading this post :go:

Welcome to the forum, Morpion! :halloha:

You will need to undo the damage done when applying the patch that was not meant for your version of the game! The patch's supplied by the links here at the forum and other places are meant for the DVD distribution of the game. The download versions have to be updated by updates supplied by your download vendor, because they have to adapt the patch to be compatible with their copy protect system.
I am thinking that you will have to uninstall the game, making sure that all traces of it are removed from your registry and HDD, then reinstall. However, you might need to check with the vendor and verify the process that needs to be followed before proceeding. Unfortunately, you are at their mercy and totally dependent on them for support. We can help you here with gameplay issues, but all technical issues, such as installation, patching and running of the game will have to be dealt with by the download distributor!

My game is in english, and published by Koch Media... so i downloaded the UK patch since Aspyr is the publisher for the US version. Am i right?

Aspyr is the US publisher of the game..but you shouldn´t download a patch meant for the PC version as they are incompatible with the download versions because of the copy protection system - as was mentioned above-

Answer from Gamersgate :

The version that we sell on GamersGate doesn't have the latest patch and
as you noticed you can't install the patch on our version. We're trying to
get a working patch from the developers but there is some trouble with the
patch and the verification system that is used for the game.

:bawling:

Well, the good thing is that my mail was send at 3:11 PM and i receveid the answer at 3:20... at least is Gamersgate reactive to their customers

You just found out why I only buy hard copies of games and leave the download versions alone! :go:
