I find it hard to believe that these forums have become so quiet, almost dead for such a great game. Surely people must be gathering somewhere else to discuss Anno 1701 or has it run it's course already which I would find hard to believe.

The German subboard is still frequently visited by a lot of people...the international subboard has always been rather "quiet" in comparison....

There are alot of "Fan based" boards also, where a lot of gamers look around...

You have to keep in mind as well that it is summer in the Northern hemisphere(where the largest fanbase is). And a lot of people are busy with vacations and outdoor activities! Not many people live on the forum like I do!

The expansion is due out next quarter(sometime in July, Augaust or September), activity should pick back up then!

For me personally, I do not post here very often, but I would think part of the problem is that Sunflowers appears to have no intention of creating a new patch for the original game, the expansion looks less and less likely to hit the US shelves, and talking about the same things over and over is, well, monotonous.

Bottom line is, there is little incentive to post here.

You are correct that Sunflowers has no intention of creating a new patch! Why would they for a game they no longer own! And why would they when they cease to exist on July 1? We do not know what the new owners(Ubisoft) will do until after they take full control on July 1.
As for the expansion hitting the shelves in the US, I feel there is a stronger possibility they will with Ubisoft being the new Publisher of the game. A lot of lesser known titles by Ubisoft were sold in the US.

O, I thought Ubi bought SF. It's not going to be the same, an Anno without SF. The SF trill at the beginning is sort of a trademark.

Because they love the game and want it to be all that it can be.
