View Full Version : Blur
Hi,
This might be a stupid question. Any ANNO 1701 screenshots I can find, show this distance-blur effect. But when I play the game on my computer, there's no such thing. Is it because of some (hidden) setting? Or is it my videocard (nVidia 7900 GS)?
Can't find anything on the internet...
It could possibly be the camera mode the shooter is in when the screnshot is made! There are several different angles and such that can be used i making screenshots. I think pressing the End key releases the lock on the camera, allowing you to scroll in and get the viewpoint as you would have walking around in the island world, whether that be on land or from sea as you would be standing on the deck of a ship.
I guess helmerh is speaking about the "roll" key. At least i hope this is the correct english word.
This key should be above the "del" or "end" key.
Then the game automatically zooms in a bit and the background of the screen is blurred.
In german it's the "Postkartenansicht", so i have a wild guess and say it's called "postcard view"...
Maybe a look in the manual can help. Or maybe Dobber now knows what i mean.

To answer your question in another way, it's not your card that is why this happens. Either as noted above or might be drivers is all I have to add. If not using them, go to the last post of my nVidia Sticky and get the 94.24 version might help but no guarantees as noted by the other two above.
Sincerely,
Phil

The key you are speaking of is the "scroll lock" key on the English keyboard. :go:
Thanks for your replies.
I don't think it's a video card or a driver issue, because on my Ati (1600XT) card, blur wasn't there either.
Once, I accidentally activated 'free scroll mode', and rotated the screen in any possible position, but no blur. Plus, I'm sure that when you zoom in a little - regular mode - you should be able to at get least SOME blur.
Anyway, it's not just some setting that I need to enable, is it?

as mentioned above, you can activate this view by hitting the "scroll lock" key if you want to do a screenshot..it is just for viewing exoerience
Will try scroll lock, once my PC is stable again.
I believe that a piece of METAL caused it to crash at uncertain times
(after hours of running tests, reinstalling / fixing Windows and cable-jerking, something fell out :D)

Scroll lock works fine, thank you. Didn't really know what to look for in the manual.
I like this helpful board :go:
Glad you finally found the desired effect! :go:
