I am also having a problem with the demo. It will not install. That is the English one will not install but the German one will. Why is that? Why should I change anything with my machine if one will start and one will not? This is not a good start.
Galusha you just install the German demo and then put in the installed folder language pack file of the English demo and try.
If you don't have English pack here is the link:

EreSis, are you running a tool like SpySweeper, Popup-Stopper or likewise in the background? Those might cause the problem.

damn ... do you have only one monitor? somekind of messenger (icq, aim, ...)?
plz can you run dxdiag and post the saved results here
start -> run -> "dxdiag" ENTER
save results as dxdiag.txt
Nothing unusual in your process list.
What firewall software do you use? Does it maybe run as a service still?

Tzariat, thanks.
I suggest you run Ad-aware or some other spyware, trojan, etc. tool. I get the feeling that there's some 'unwanted' app running on your system.
