As we know till now the Resources are devided into three cathegories. The three cathegories are :

Basic Resources : Food, Wood, Stone and Metal.
Valuable Resources : Can be plundered from captures territories like Gold...
Exotic Resources : To get them its required to build an advanced harbor or capture a territory
thats contains one. This allows for trade with the Far East.

How about EXOTIC RESOURCES ? Are they needed to build special Units or Buildings ?

What are they ? Silks, Gems ?

I would guess that exotic recources are either for making money with, or for making your people happier (a bit like in Civ III)

I am not sure about that PIKEMAN.

I am sure that i read somewhere that those EXOTIC resources are needed to build special units.

Maybe the MODERATORS can help us out ?

Maybe the MODERATORS can help us out ?

We will reveal the exotic and valuable resources together with the overall economy later. Please have some patience!

Sorry if I sound sarcastic, but how do silk or diamonds help you to build special units?

Yes, Silk and Diamonds could enhance your income in a way...

Or you could trade those goods against others you could need to build buildings or units.

Who knows....lets see what the developers say...i hope that they will release some infos soon.

actualy gods have been used imn the past as payment for troops.
The Romans used salt as payment to there soldiers.
So if they continue in that way you can implement some special units that can be bought for sertain resources

Also resources are only found in certain places and climates.
This would have an effect on what materials your buildings where built out of and what other things you could build.
There could be hundreds of different types of resources, I just cant wait to see what KoH implement- im excited!

A few possibilities perhaps!

stone, clay, slate, wood (different trees produce different material-arrows for instances)
gems, diamonds,gold,silver
iron,copper
ink,clothes
salt,sugar,herbs&spices,food,wine,tobacco

and the list goes on and on !

All this discussion of resources and the types of resources is beginning to sound like 1503 AD The New World by EA Games.

Let's all be patient with the developers. The more time they spend trying to answer posts, the less time they spend getting the game, the demo and the movie out they have more or less committed to.

I would rather have the demo and game than answers to any posts at this point. Let us enjoy the answers we do get and not grouse too loudly about the ones we don't get! After all, it is about a game and it should be fun!
